On March 8, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City issued an urgent warning to parents about a new scam in which people impersonate Department, Department, and school staff to ask parents to complete documents to refund tuition fees.

According to this Department, some parents in Ho Chi Minh City reported receiving fraudulent phone calls or text messages through the trick of impersonating Department, Department, or school staff, asking them to complete documents to refund tuition fees according to regulations of the Politburo .

The Department's warning said that some parents have lost large sums of money to this scam.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, up to now the Department has not had any guiding documents related to tuition refunds according to the regulations of the Politburo .

The Department recommends that all parents of students do not follow any requests from strange messages or phone calls to comply with the request.

"All instructions for implementing tuition refund activities (if any) will be announced and specifically instructed in writing by the Department of Education and Training to schools, and schools are responsible for notifying each student's parents through the homeroom teacher or student manager in charge," the Department's recommendation emphasized.

This unit recommends that all parents be vigilant and not listen to and follow instructions from strange phone numbers that contact them.

The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City also updated this information to all school principals in the city to warn and remind parents to be vigilant.

Recently, the Politburo decided to exempt all tuition fees for students from kindergarten to high school nationwide. The implementation time is from the beginning of the new school year 2025-2026.
