Profound Vu Lan 2025 art program - Filial piety and the sacred soul of the Fatherland

On the evening of August 25, at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace ( Hanoi ), the Central Information and Communications Department of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha organized the Vu Lan - Filial Piety & Nation 2025 art program with the theme Filial Piety and the sacred soul of the Fatherland.

Attending the program were Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu, Standing Member of the Council of Patriarchs, Permanent Vice President of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha; monks, nuns, and Buddhists.

In his opening speech, Most Venerable Thich Gia Quang, Vice President of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Head of the Central Information and Communications Department, said: In the compassionate light of Buddhism, filial piety is not only taking care of parents, but also being loyal to the country and people. Vu Lan is not only a season of filial piety to family, but also a season of gratitude to those who have laid down their lives for the eternal existence of the Fatherland.

“How many children have put aside their youth, left behind their beloved homes… to keep the country intact. They are also filial children, but have chosen a greater love than the love for their homeland, for every inch of land, every breath of their homeland. And surely, in the afterlife, the heroic martyrs are smiling, seeing that the people still remember, with all their hearts, their gratitude and repayment,” Venerable Thich Gia Quang shared.

Venerable Thich Gia Quang said: From 2014 to now, 11 Vu Lan seasons, the program "Vu Lan - Filial Piety & Nation" from an annual activity has become a journey to spread the origin of morality. Today, Vu Lan does not stop at rituals, but has been deeply engraved in the consciousness, human feelings..., becoming the reason for living, the source of the hearts of all Vietnamese people.

It is known that the program "Vu Lan - Filial Piety & Nation" has been taking place from June 2025 to present, with many activities of gratitude, charity and social security. The program has strongly portrayed humanity, deeply expressed the spirit of filial piety in Buddhism, thereby contributing to strongly spreading the tradition of gratitude and repayment of gratitude in social life.

Vu Lan Art Program - Filial Piety & Nation 2025 with special performances from artists, aiming to convey gratitude through songs to spread filial piety values to the community.

At the art program, the Organizing Committee presented gifts to 5 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and 11 relatives of war invalids and martyrs.

The Organizing Committee also awarded prizes to 15 winners in the online writing and drawing contest "Lighting up filial piety - Brightening the nation's soul".
