Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online on the afternoon of June 23, Mr. Nguyen Van Son - Chairman of Hoi An City People's Committee - said that on the same afternoon, the authorities had dismantled the entire iron frame system installed on the ancient house that is being used as a restaurant on Bach Dang Street, right next to the Hoai River.

Earlier, at noon on June 23, a resident while walking on Bach Dang Street discovered a large iron scaffold being installed on the roof of an ancient house under special protection in the Hoi An heritage complex.

According to regulations, this behavior not only distorts relics and destroys the general landscape but also affects the structural safety of ancient houses.

As soon as he received the information, Hoi An City Chairman Nguyen Van Son texted and forwarded the images provided by the people to the heritage conservation agency and the leaders of Minh An ward.

In the message, Mr. Son also requested to organize forces to handle the situation immediately on the same day, to restore the general landscape.

Immediately after that, Minh An ward and Hoi An Cultural Heritage Management and Conservation Center organized forces to request the dismantling of the entire iron frame that had been erected. At 1:30 p.m. on June 23, the dismantling was completed.

In Hoi An ancient town, to preserve the integrity of the old town, any intervention in the construction of the heritage complex must go through a strict approval process.

Thanks to that, over a hundred years, the image of Hoi An ancient town still retains its uniformity.

Currently, the entire city of Hoi An has nearly 1,300 ancient relics, including on streets such as Bach Dang, Tran Phu, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai... there are relics under special protection, hundreds of years old.
