There is a buzz on social media about Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology buying 1,000 tickets for the movie Southern Forest Land and asking students to watch it. If any student goes to watch it, they will get 2 points for training. If any student does not go, their points will be deducted.
Speaking with VietNamNet, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Anh, Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said that buying 1,000 tickets for the movie Southern Forest Land is part of the learning activities of the Film Appreciation course, Faculty of Communication and Design.
According to the plan, on October 20, the Faculty of Communication and Design will organize for students of the Multimedia Communication major to watch this movie at the cinema. This is a learning activity to help students have a real experience of the theater space through a new movie.

According to Mr. Quoc Anh, the school's training orientation is applied and often includes practical experience programs in the curriculum.
"Specifically, in September 2023, we also let students experience watching the movie "Past lives" or previously watched the movie "Flip side 6: The fateful ticket" and interact with Ly Hai's film crew. In addition, students majoring in Multimedia Communications also brought their graduation project film product to the theater for screening."
Regarding the information that students who do not go to see the movie Southern Forest Land will have their practice points deducted, while students who go to see the movie will be given points, Mr. Quoc Anh affirmed that this is not correct. Watching movies and experiencing the theater space is a student's right in the curriculum, students do not have to pay for tickets, and the school does not require participation.
Students who do not attend the movie will lose their benefits but will not be affected in terms of academic or training points. On the other hand, this activity is only for students of the Media major and when students go to the movie, the lecturers will have professional instructions for them.
Regarding the controversial purchase of 1,000 movie tickets for students, the Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology affirmed that the school has no comment on this matter. According to the school representative, this is a new and invested movie, so the school creates conditions for students to watch and get a feel for the media field.
