Sinner was not satisfied with his serving ability even though he easily won the right to continue.

World number one Jannik Sinner says there is still room for improvement despite claiming his 23rd straight Grand Slam hard-court win to reach the third round of the 2025 US Open.

World number one Sinner defeated Australian Alexei Popyrin 3-0 (6-3, 6-2, 6-2) to set up a third round meeting with Canadian 27th seed Denis Shapovalov. The result extended Sinner's impressive run on hard courts, where he has not lost a match since losing to Alexander Zverev in the fourth round of the 2023 US Open.

But Sinner was unhappy with his serve against Popyrin, only completing 51% of his first serves.

"I felt like neither of us served well but I returned very well. Obviously I want to improve my serve," Sinner told BBC Sports.

In the women's singles, former champion Naomi Osaka (seeded No. 23) defeated American Hailey Baptiste 2-0 (6-3, 6-1) to reach the third round of the tournament and continue her dream of finding her first Grand Slam since 2021.

Osaka previously won 13 WTA titles, including four Grand Slam titles. But since winning the Australian Open in 2021, the 27-year-old has not won any more titles.
