Sinner: 'My dream has come true'

For the first time in his career, Jannik Sinner won the Wimbledon title after an impressive comeback to defeat Carlos Alcaraz in four sets.

It was the 23-year-old's fourth Grand Slam title, making him the first Italian to win Wimbledon. Sinner's victory also handed Alcaraz his first loss in a Grand Slam final.

Sinner said after the match: "It's amazing to be here. We talked before the match about how I never thought I would be here. When I was a kid, winning Wimbledon was just a dream that I never thought could come true. Now I feel like I'm actually living the dream. It's incredible."

With this 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory, world No. 1 Sinner not only ended a five-match losing streak against Alcaraz but also successfully "avenged" the painful defeat in the classic Roland-Garros final last month. He even admitted that it was the loss that was the key factor in helping him win the crown at SW19.

"I had a very difficult defeat in Paris," said Sinner.

"But at the end of the day, it's not about how you win or lose, especially in big tournaments. You just have to understand what you did wrong and try to fix it. That's exactly what we did. We tried to accept the defeat and keep working. That's definitely one of the reasons why I'm here holding this trophy. I'm grateful that I'm healthy and have great people around me. That's the most important part."

The Wimbledon championship was not only a sweet revenge for Jannik Sinner, but also firmly consolidated the Italian player's world number 1 position against Alcaraz's close pursuit.
