SIU Prize Health Sciences seeks talent in the field of Health Sciences

Following the success of the SIU Prize Computer Science 2023-2024, the SIU Prize officially opens the portal to receive nominations for the SIU Prize Health Sciences season from March 2025 to April 30, 2026.

The SIU Prize is an international science and technology award, honoring young Vietnamese and Vietnamese-origin talents around the world who have successfully defended their doctoral dissertations within 5 years (based on the date on the candidate's doctoral degree to the nomination deadline), with the potential to develop into innovative solutions, making great contributions to the sustainable development of Vietnam and the world. The award is given every 2 years in the fields of Computer Science and Health Sciences.

With its special meaning and mission 'For Vietnamese knowledge', since its announcement, SIU Prize has attracted extensive attention from the scientific community at home and abroad. In the first season 2023-2024, SIU Prize Computer Science made a strong impression, attracting more than 100 excellent nominations, diverse fields from 19 countries.

The first SIU Prize Computer Science award ceremony took place on January 11, 2025, honoring outstanding individuals who are typical representatives of the quintessence of the young generation of Vietnam globally in the field of technology and artificial intelligence with excellent thesis works, along with many patents and solutions that are being and will be applied in a number of countries and high-tech corporations. The award-winning thesis works demonstrate great potential to create breakthrough innovations in solving major problems of the world today, especially in education , health and the environment.

The SIU Prize Computer Science season 1 award ceremony left many deep impressions on the scientific community and academia.

Following the success of SIU Prize Computer Science, the first season of SIU Prize Health Sciences (2025-2026) seeks nominations for the best doctoral theses related to the field of Health Sciences, especially research and development of solutions for applying science, engineering and technology in medicine, pharmacy, physiology, behavioral science and mental health, medical engineering, medical technology, biomedical science, biomedical engineering, etc. The nomination portal opens from March 2025 to April 30, 2026.

'We believe that the deep understanding, rich experience, goodwill and fairness of the SIU Prize Professional Council will contribute significantly to the success of the award and the development of the field of Health Sciences' - Prof. Dr. Dang Van Phuoc.

SIU Prize Health Sciences Season 1 Nomination Process

• March 2025 to April 2026 - SIU Prize Health Sciences Season 1 Nominations Open
• May 1, 2026 - Nominations close
• May to August 2026 - The SIU Prize Preliminary Board and Professional Committee select outstanding Candidates to propose to the SIU Prize Professional Committee
• September to October 2026 - SIU Prize expert panel selects winning theses November 2026 - SIU Prize Health Sciences award list announced
• January 2027 - SIU Prize Award Ceremony combined with SIU Shaping Futures International Conference

The SIU Prize Health Sciences is expected to motivate, encourage and nurture the desire to serve the Vietnamese people and Vietnamese knowledge. Through the prize, SIU hopes to create a bridge connecting Vietnamese intellectuals with scientists, researchers and inventors around the world to contribute to the development of science and technology, serving humanity in general and Vietnam in particular.

SIU Prize Health Sciences Award Structure

• FIRST PRIZE includes 2,000,000,000 VND (Two billion VND) in cash and an 18K gold SIU Prize Medal;
• SECOND PRIZE includes 1,000,000,000 VND (One billion VND) in cash and a silver SIU Prize Medal;
• THIRD PRIZE includes 400,000,000 VND (Four hundred million VND) in cash and a silver SIU Prize Medal;
• 02 CONSOLATION PRIZES including 200,000,000 VND (Two hundred million VND) in cash/prize and a silver SIU Prize Medal.
• THE SPIRIT OF DONG A AWARD honors scientists who have graduated with a doctorate from a Vietnamese higher education institution and have excelled in the Top 10 of the award to reward and promote the spirit of self-reliance of domestic students, including 100,000,000 VND (One hundred million VND) in cash.

At the same time, the winners of the prizes will receive a SIU Prize Certificate and a trip (combined with the award ceremony and international conference in Vietnam) worth up to 200,000,000 VND (including round-trip airfare to Vietnam, hotel accommodation for 01 week to attend the ceremony, travel, etc.).
