Meanwhile, domestic gold prices this afternoon were adjusted upwards.
The price of SJC 9999 gold this afternoon was adjusted up by 500,000 VND/tael in both buying and selling compared to this morning, trading at 105-107.5 million VND/tael (buying - selling).
Gold ring prices this afternoon were also adjusted up by brands.
Early this afternoon, SJC Company listed the price of 1-5 ring gold at only 102-105 million VND/tael (buy - sell), an increase of 500 thousand VND per tael in both buying and selling compared to this morning.
Doji Gold and Gemstone Group early this afternoon also raised the buying and selling price of 9999 gold rings to 102-105 million VND/tael, an increase of 800 thousand VND per tael for buying and 200 thousand VND per tael more expensive for selling compared to this morning.
Domestic gold ring prices fluctuated little this morning.
Early this morning, SJC Company listed the price of 1-5 ring gold at only 101.5-104.5 million VND/tael (buy - sell), an increase of 100 thousand VND/tael in buying price but 400 thousand VND/tael cheaper in selling price compared to the closing price last weekend.
Doji Gold and Gemstone Group early this morning raised the price of 9999 gold rings to 101.2-104.8 million VND/tael (buy - sell), unchanged from the closing price of last weekend's trading session.
Opening the trading session on April 14, the price of SJC 9999 gold increased by 1.5 million VND/tael for buying and 500 thousand VND/tael more expensive for selling compared to the closing session last weekend, up to 104.5-107 million VND/tael (buying - selling).
The central exchange rate on April 14 announced by the State Bank was 24,886 VND/USD, down 37 VND compared to the previous trading session. The USD price at commercial banks this morning (April 14) was commonly listed at 25,530 VND/USD (buy) and 25,920 VND/USD (sell).
At 8:37 a.m. today (April 14, Vietnam time), the world spot gold price was at 3,235.8 USD/ounce, up or down 0.2 USD/ounce compared to the close last week. The gold futures price for June 2025 on the Comex New York floor was at 3,253.4 USD/ounce.
On the morning of April 14, the world gold price converted to USD bank price was over 102.1 million VND/tael, including tax and fees, about 4.9 million VND/tael lower than the domestic gold price.
Gold price forecast
According to the Kitco News gold survey, 94% predict gold prices will rise, only 6% think gold will go sideways. According to Kitco's online poll, 69% predict gold prices will go higher, 18% predict gold prices will trade lower, and 13% think prices will trend sideways.
Adam Button, head of currency strategy at Forexlive, said the US is in an almost impossible position at the moment. In that context, investors tend to seek “safe havens”, and gold is showing its effective role as a haven.
“It could be a surge in inflation, a slowdown in growth, or a decline in productivity – or even all of these things happening at the same time. In such an environment, planning becomes extremely difficult. Even stagflation can quickly change the whole calculus,” he said.

Marc Chandler, managing director at Bannockburn Global Forex, said the market turmoil and the sharp decline in the US dollar offset high interest rates and pushed gold prices to record highs. It is difficult to predict resistance levels, but the next target for gold is $3,300 an ounce and $3,500 an ounce in the long term.
