Every year, when autumn comes, the old town is lit up by the shimmering colors of thousands of star lanterns, lanterns, and the bustling sound of lion drums, evoking childhood memories of many generations. The Mid-Autumn Festival in the Old Quarter has become a unique "cultural symbol", both bearing a strong folk mark and wearing a modern breath, so that every resident and tourist when setting foot in Hoan Kiem can feel an ancient, elegant and creative Hanoi .

The Organizing Committee said that the program "Full Moon Festival 2025" includes many attractive activities. From 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., there will be a competition to display the Mid-Autumn Festival tray with the participation of 6 units, which are residential areas and schools in the ward. This is an activity to introduce the long-standing cultural beauty of the nation. The tray symbolizes gathering, reunion, filial piety to ancestors and affection for children.
From 6pm to 7pm: Children will join 3 traditional lantern processions. The lantern procession with lion and unicorn dances starts from 2 Le Thai To to King Le Monument, joins group 2 and goes to Trang Tien and the final destination is Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square.
From 7:30 p.m., the "Full Moon Festival 2025" will take place with a scale of more than 2,000 participants, including about 1,500 children in the ward, along with students, residents, experts in culture, history, fashion designers, painters, and musicians.

At the Mid-Autumn Festival, children will be treated to a special art program. The Organizing Committee will announce and award prizes for the best food display contest, lantern parade contest, and give gifts to children in special circumstances and about 1,500 children attending the program.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of Hoan Kiem Ward People's Committee, Nguyen Hong Trang, said that the 2025 Old Quarter Mid-Autumn Festival took place in a special context for the first time. Hoan Kiem Ward People's Committee, after arranging the 2-level government model, directly presided over and coordinated with businesses, schools, and residential communities to organize many unique activities: Phung Hung mural space with brilliant colors, where artisans and craftsmen introduced, performed and guided children to make folk toys.
Cultural venues such as Kim Ngan Communal House and Hang Buom Art Center have become venues for exhibitions, discussions, and workshops on the application of traditional fine arts in contemporary life. Art programs, children's fashion shows, lion and dragon dances, and activities recreating ancient customs have created a space that is both familiar and new.
In particular, the Mid-Autumn Festival held at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square with thousands of participants became a brilliant highlight of this year's festival. Through each activity, we clearly see the efforts to preserve and revive the old Mid-Autumn memories, while at the same time breathing into it the creative breath of the new era. This is also the way that Hoan Kiem ward, under the direction of the City, is realizing the orientation of building the Capital into a creative cultural center, connecting tradition and modernity.
The gala night today is even more meaningful with the presence and deep concern of the City leaders. Such concern not only demonstrates the responsibility of the Party and Government in preserving heritage, but also affirms the affection and practical care for children - the young buds, the future owners of the country.
In the shimmering light of the full moon night, we not only see the radiant joy in the eyes of children, but also feel the pride, community cohesion, and above all, the aspiration to preserve Vietnamese cultural identity in the heart of the thousand-year-old capital.
