Festival of culture and knowledge

Speaking at the opening of the Book Fair, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Truong Viet Dung affirmed: The Hanoi Book Fair is a prestigious annual reading culture event, a "festival of culture and knowledge", a meeting place for publishers, authors, and readers, contributing to the propaganda of the nation's historical, cultural, and revolutionary traditions, and pride in the traditions of the thousand-year-old capital, the heroic capital.

After 10 years of organization, the Hanoi Book Fair 2025 continues to be held at the historic Hoan Kiem Lake space with many meaningful activities . This year's Book Fair brings readers new experiences with digital transformation applications in publishing and cultural industry activities.

Along with the strong development of science and technology, the diversity of media, books and reading culture still hold an important position, always being an invaluable source of knowledge, a means and a tool to create world awareness. Developing reading culture, especially reading culture accompanying science, technology, innovation and digital transformation, is a task and practical action to build the capital Hanoi "Cultured - Civilized - Modern", contributing to concretizing the goal of building Hanoi into a center of convergence and promotion of cultural values, creating endogenous strength for sustainable development as Resolution No. 15-NQ/TW of the Politburo has proposed: "Focus on developing the capital's culture worthy of the thousand-year tradition of Thang Long - Hanoi; building Hanoi to truly be a center of convergence, crystallization of the culture of the whole country, becoming a new development resource for the capital".

Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Truong Viet Dung emphasized: "Promoting the good results and spreading knowledge from the Hanoi Book Fairs in recent years, at the Opening Ceremony of the Book Fair, Hanoi People's Committee launched and called on publishers, book companies in the city, units participating in the Book Fair and all readers to respond to the activity of donating books to public libraries in the capital. This is a practical action, contributing to arousing passion and reading habits in the community, while promoting the spirit of self-study and lifelong learning - one of the important foundations for the sustainable development of society".

At the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Truong Viet Dung presented books and 100 million VND to serve public libraries in the capital. Mr. Do Ha Thanh, Vice Chairman of Ngoc Ha Ward People's Committee, represented the units to receive the book gifts from the Organizing Committee.

The book fair takes place from October 2 to 5 at the Hoan Kiem Lake walking street, Hoan Kiem ward, Hanoi. This is an annual reading culture event, practically celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the 71st anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital, and the 26th anniversary of Hanoi being honored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a "City for Peace".

There are many meaningful activities taking place at this Book Fair, in which the highlight is the display and exhibition with the theme "Thang Long - Hanoi Aspiration to Rise".

Here, with a beautifully designed and impressive space, readers and visitors will be able to learn about publications about Thang Long - Hanoi, the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, the tradition of education and examinations, famous scholars, focusing on propagating the historical, cultural and revolutionary traditions of the nation, being proud of the thousand-year-old tradition of culture and heroism of Thang Long - Hanoi; encouraging and developing reading culture among the people, aiming to build a learning society, contributing to building elegant and civilized Hanoians.

In particular, at the Mobile Library space, readers will be served free reading of hundreds of books introducing the history, culture, heritage and people of Hanoi, reflecting the process of innovation, creativity, integration and development of the Capital in the new period.

Along with that is the introduction of the Thang Long Thousand Years of Culture Bookcase, the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam Bookcase electronic version. Readers will experience interactive e-books, multi-function books, interactive Q&A with the AI Turtle; printing patterns of doctoral steles, practicing traditional book sewing...

Within the framework of the Hanoi Book Fair 2025, publishers and book companies have prepared attractive, meaningful and typical exchange programs, such as: Exchange on the theme "Two generations of generals - A flow of history", guest: Major General Hoang Kim Phung, former Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department and representative of the family of the late Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, introducing a set of 4 books: Stories about General Nguyen Chi Thanh, Journey for Peace, Letters from North to South, Nguyen Chi Thanh - a perspective from posterity (Alpha Book Joint Stock Company).

There will also be an exchange and introduction of the historical novel "Van Xuan" by French author and writer Yveline Féray; an introduction of the book "Land of Fog: The Quest for Memory Glue", translated by Ngan Ha...
