Pedagogy, key techniques and strategic technology attract good candidates

At the 2025 Higher Education Conference, Mr. Vu Tien Thao - Director of the Department of Higher Education ( Ministry of Education and Training ) said that this year's enrollment results recorded a clear increase in the attractiveness of Pedagogy majors, along with key engineering majors and strategic technology.

Positive signals are clearly shown in the admission results: in 74 majors with a standard score according to the high school graduation exam score of 28/30 or higher, there are up to 50 majors in the Pedagogy sector and 17 majors in the key technical group, strategic technology such as computer science , artificial intelligence, semiconductor microchips, control and automation.

This is considered a welcome signal, contributing to affirming society's interest in industries that play a key role in developing high-quality human resources, meeting the requirements of educational innovation and the country's development in the digital age.

As of August 31, 2025, the results achieved for the general university admissions of the 2025-2026 school year have basically been completed as planned.

In 2025, the total number of candidates registered for the exam will reach 852,000, with 7.6 million wishes for more than 4,000 majors and training programs of more than 500 universities and colleges nationwide. The entire process is done completely online, from registration, fee payment, virtual filtering and admission confirmation, with no errors from the general system.

As for the Northern group (chaired by Hanoi University of Science and Technology), which organized the general admission exam for 65 training institutions, the initial admission exam software was overloaded due to the large amount of calculations. The Ministry of Education and Training requested to extend the nationwide virtual filtering time by 2 days but still ensure the announcement of admission exam results as planned (August 22, 2025). The online admission registration system was opened from August 25 until September 2 (3 days longer than planned).

The problems of organizing early admissions and dividing the quotas between methods and admission combinations in previous years have been basically overcome. The entire admissions process is transparent, there is no longer an unreasonable difference in benchmark scores between methods and admission combinations for the same major and school.

As of September 2, the number of candidates who completed admission confirmation was 625,477 (an increase of 13.82% compared to 2024); of which the university sector alone was 613,335, equivalent to 52.87% of the total number of candidates taking the high school graduation exam (in 2024 it was 51.3%). The number of training institutions recruiting less than 30% of the target was only 6.5% (in 2024 it was 16.4%).
