Strengthening inspection and management of fertilizer and pesticide quality

Realizing the increasing demand for fertilizers and pesticides in the production process of farmers, some bad guys have released products that do not ensure quality, affecting the care and protection of crops. In this situation, to protect the interests of consumers, relevant functional sectors in the province have increased inspection, detection and timely handling of many cases.

At this time, farmers in the province are focusing on taking care of their crops for the autumn crop, so the demand for fertilizers and pesticides is increasing. To avoid buying poor quality fertilizers and pesticides, many farmers have turned to familiar establishments and chosen to buy branded products.

Ms. Pham Thi Loan, Cam Binh commune (Cam Thuy) said: "This season, my family planted 3 sao of rice. Currently, the rice is in the tillering stage, so it is necessary to fertilize the rice. However, because the fertilizer market today has many different types and prices, I do not know which product to choose. Therefore, when I need to buy fertilizer, I often go to a familiar store and choose to buy branded products. If this season's use is not effective, I will switch to another type of fertilizer next season."

Mr. Le Van May, Xuan Duong commune (Thuong Xuan) shared: "On the area of ​​3,000m2 of yellow melons grown by my family according to Vietgap standards, the source of fertilizer I use is organic microbial fertilizer, and pesticides are limited to the maximum extent. If I have to use them, I only use them when absolutely necessary and use pesticides that are on the list of permitted pesticides, helping to increase crop productivity, improve product quality, ensure safety and especially be environmentally friendly."

Nhat Long Fertilizer Joint Stock Company, located in Xuan Sinh Commune (Tho Xuan), is a company specializing in the production of NPK, NK, NP fertilizers, yellow granular urea, organic fertilizers for rice, vegetables, coffee, rubber, cassava, sugarcane, fruit trees, etc. Mr. Le Trong Quang, Director of the Company, said: "With more than 20 years of experience in the field of fertilizer production, the company always wants to be a trusted companion of farmers. Therefore, the company has constantly researched and improved technology and equipment to produce products of increasingly higher quality, meeting the requirements of farmers across the country. Up to now, the company's products have been trusted by farmers in 31 provinces and cities in the North and Central regions, through more than 200 wholesale and retail agents, contract owners in raw material areas of factories representing customers and individuals. In addition, every year the company signs contracts with the Company Nghe An Sugarcane , Vietnam - Taiwan Sugarcane Company Limited and Gai An Phuoc Company in consuming fertilizer products. In addition, the company also produces and supplies semi-finished products as raw materials for fertilizer production units in the province such as Ham Rong Thanh Hoa Fertilizer Joint Stock Company, Secpectin Joint Stock Company and Thanh Hoa Fertilizer... with an output of over 3,000 tons/year.

According to information from the relevant authorities, the province currently has 18 fertilizer manufacturing enterprises, 1 enterprise processing, bottling, and packaging plant protection products, and 2,336 households trading in fertilizers and plant protection products (1,550 households trading in fertilizers and 786 households trading in plant protection products). To ensure that the production and trading of fertilizers and plant protection products comply with the provisions of law and to avoid farmers buying fake or poor-quality products, the relevant authorities in the province have increased inspections, detected, and promptly handled establishments producing and trading in fake or poor-quality products. In the first 6 months of 2024 alone, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Inspectorate has inspected fertilizer and plant protection product production and trading establishments in the province. Through inspection, 14 fertilizer production and trading establishments were discovered and handled for violating quality, with a fine of 138.5 million VND and 6 samples of 5 pesticide trading establishments violating quality are pending handling.

In order for the fertilizer and pesticide market to be strictly controlled in the coming time, moving towards eliminating fake and poor quality goods in the market, relevant departments, branches, forces of the province and local authorities need to step up propaganda work to raise awareness, understanding of the law and responsibility of producers and traders of these products. Along with that, step up inspections and surprise checks of production and trading establishments, resolutely handle violations according to regulations if violations are detected. Only then can we ensure the legitimate rights of consumers, while contributing to promoting the development of the province's agriculture.
