Ms. Vo Thi Thuy Kieu cuts pants samples for workers
At the sewing facility of Ms. Vo Thi Thuy Kieu (residing in Ninh Phu quarter, Ninh Thanh ward, Tay Ninh province), the workers are always working, the atmosphere is bustling. Ms. Kieu's sewing facility provides uniforms for 3 primary and secondary schools in the old Bau Nang commune and office and union uniforms for many agencies and units. In addition, the facility also sews and sells white shirts, trousers, gym clothes, ao dai for students, and religious ao dai. The facility has 16 workers working in many stages - cutting, sewing, ironing, making buttons - both on-site and outsourcing.
Ms. Kieu shared that she has been sewing for more than 20 years. Since 2012, she started sewing school uniforms, but at that time, it was mainly made-to-measure. When participating in bidding for school uniforms, she realized that this tailoring could not meet the large-scale production needs of schools, so she started to change direction. In 2019, she switched to tailoring to numbers to make it easier to cut, sew, and produce on a large scale. To meet the requirements of the job, she boldly invested in cutting and sewing machines.
Previously, the season for sewing student uniforms was prepared and carried out in April and May, but now, her facility works all year round to supply schools and wholesalers and retailers in and outside the province. In early June, the work began to accelerate and by mid-August, the facility rushed to complete the uniforms to deliver in time for the opening ceremony.
“We make uniforms with the desire to bring convenience to students and reasonable prices for parents. The products at my facility are more expensive than those at the market, but the quality is always guaranteed and durable, so many parents still choose to buy them for their children every school year,” said Ms. Kieu.
Ms. Vo Thi Le Hang is rushing to sew clothes to deliver to customers on time.
The tailor shop of Ms. Vo Thi Le Hang (residing in Phuoc Thanh commune) is also busy cutting and sewing to deliver clothes before the first day of school for students. The tailor shop is quite old, each year, she alone sews about 100 sets of uniforms for students of all levels, sometimes more. But now, due to her health not being as good as before, she does not accept many orders to ensure timely sewing and delivery to customers. The price for a set of pants and a shirt tailored to a model, and an ao dai is more than 500,000 VND. This is not a cheap price compared to rural areas, but many people still choose to order uniforms for their children because of the quality, beauty, comfort and durability.
According to Ms. Hang, customers who order uniforms both inside and outside the commune come to her shop to order by word of mouth. And there are customers who have been long-term customers since they were students until they graduated and became teachers. Every school year, Ms. Hang not only makes uniforms for students but also makes ao dai uniforms for teachers.
“When I was young, I didn’t get to go to school, so when I made uniforms for students, I loved seeing them try on the clothes and see how beautiful they looked! I always tried my best so that the children and teachers could have the most satisfactory clothes,” said Ms. Hang./.
