Teasing the audience?

Do Phu Qui collaborated with a team, including Tuno (composer) and Hoang Danh Huong (arranger), to release this song. The composer was inspired by Pickleball - a sport that is growing rapidly in Vietnam - to sketch out a love story on the soccer field.

The song was criticized the most for its cliché lyrics, like the verse: "No matter how much you play, I remind you / I'm not easy / Don't look at me, look at the ball / Lose the game, leave me / Don't be careless and put your feet too close / Be restrained / Lose 5 times, I will be on top of you".

Also a flirtatious content, the author exploits a bold topic, possibly hitting the hot keyword "Pickleball". However, the segments lack cohesion, superficial sentences turn the song into a disaster. The confusing lyrics, combined with the half-hearted melody and arrangement, make an audience ask: "I don't understand what I'm listening to, the music just hangs in the air, hanging in the ears".

Coming to the chorus, the lyrics of Pickleball still confusing: "I asked you out for Pickleball / We played Pickleball / The tennis player below my hip / I hit the ball, hit the ball / Come at you hard".

Not only music, Do Phu Qui was disliked because of the images in the version released on YouTube. This singer produced Visualizer MV, a lighter, more economical version than Music Video . All the images in this product only show off Do Phu Qui's appearance and body. However, some scenes, especially the moment Do Phu Qui wore a crop top and posed, were ridiculed by the online community.

"The vocals aren't that bad, and the song's arrangement is pretty modern. But the lyrics and visuals suffocate your product," one viewer commented. Another viewer said harshly, "It's 2024, why are there still such cliché songs?"

Singers labeled as "disasters" like Phi Phuong Anh find it difficult to survive in the market.

Shoot yourself in the foot

Do Phu Qui (born in 1993) has become well known recently for his participation in Brother say hi. This singer soon stopped working on game shows, but the title "Brother" was a good stepping stone for Do Phu Qui to break out and make his mark, after many years of an unpromising career.

Just one product Pickleball but is leaving disastrous consequences for Do Phu Qui. For a long time, the Vietnamese music market has not had a product labeled a disaster. The song Pickleball like "delicious bait" for the online community. The audience takes turns throwing stones when something called abnormal appears and with the current trend, criticism spreads extremely quickly.

Some viewers asked: "Why is the artist so superficial and naive to release this song? Is it to attract attention?"

It is also possible Pickleball is a media-explosive card of Do Phu Qui and his team. However, if that happens, it will be a big risk for the artist to attract public opinion with a negative product at this time. Before Do Phu Qui, one of the singers labeled as a disaster was Phi Phuong Anh.

Phi Phuong Anh, when she moved from being a "long-legged model" to a singer, also released a product. Cheating , made her the center of criticism. The scandal helped Phi Phuong Anh gain immediate attention. After that, Phi Phuong Anh began to re-establish herself with serious products.

However, the title "Vietnamese music disaster" still haunts Phi Phuong Anh all the way after. Currently, this singer has also disappeared from the market.

Over the years, the Vietnamese music market has become increasingly professional. Audiences' taste in music has improved, leading to an increase in demand for music products. Audiences now not only pay attention to vocals, but also "check" the content, lyrics, and even the color of the music.

Songs with cliché or sensitive lyrics are immediately condemned by the audience. The negativity directed at Do Phu Qui once again warns against poor quality products from Vietnamese singers.
