Judge rejects request to stop Elon Musk, DOGE from mass layoffs

The plaintiffs, which include 14 US states, argue that Elon Musk’s role in leading DOGE is unconstitutional because he was not approved by the Senate. The plaintiffs also ask to prevent DOGE from accessing data from 7 federal agencies.

“The court cannot issue a temporary restraining order (TRO), especially with a broad injunction request from a plaintiff, without clear evidence of immediate or irreparable harm,” said Ms. Chutkhan.

The judge added that the plaintiff had asked the court to consider media reports indicating that DOGE had or would soon take actions such as mass contract terminations. “The court cannot act on media reports. What I have heard is clearly concerning, but I need to have the reports and find out the facts before making a decision,” Ms. Chutkhan told ABC News.
