Defeating Azerbaijan, the Austrian team advances straight to the EURO 2024 finals

7 teams have qualified

Austria qualified automatically after a hard-fought 1-0 win away to Azerbaijan in Group F.

Marcel Sabitzer played the role of hero for the Austrian team when he successfully executed the 11m penalty kick at the beginning of the second half.

This victory helps coach Ralf Rangnick's team have 16 points after 7 matches, 10 points more than Sweden.

The Swedish team still has 3 matches ahead but the maximum number of points they can win is 9, so they have to accept watching their opponents go straight to Germany to participate in the EURO 2024 finals.

This is the fourth time and the third consecutive time that the Austrian team has participated in a EURO finals. Previously, they participated in EURO 2008, 2016 and 2020.
