Thanh Hoa: Teacher slapped student, ruptured eardrum

A high school teacher in Thanh Hoa province admitted that he was wrong when he slapped a 7th grade student three times in the face, causing the student's left eardrum to rupture.

Many people who watched the clip with the above information said that the teacher's actions were not standard, going to the student's house to beat him.

According to Thanh Nien reporter's investigation, the above clip was recorded on the morning of August 8 at a family in Tay Do commune ( Thanh Hoa ). At this time, Mr. Vu Xuan Tuyen (currently a teacher at Vinh Loc High School, Thanh Hoa) rode a motorbike to the uncle's house and used his hand to slap the son (7th grade student) of the uncle's family 3 times in the face.

The result was that the 7th grade male student had his left eardrum torn and had to be taken to the Hanoi Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital for treatment. The patient is now stable and has been transferred to Thanh Hoa Children's Hospital for treatment.

Speaking to reporters, teacher Vu Xuan Tuyen admitted that the person in the clip who slapped the student was him. Mr. Tuyen also admitted that his actions were wrong because he could not control his anger and slapped his uncle's student.

"I was wrong to slap her, that was the wrong way to handle the situation. Between her and I is a family relationship. Since 3rd grade, I have tutored her and some other children in the family, and now she is in 7th grade.

This summer I continued to tutor her, but recently she was talking to her friends and saying bad things about me, so I heard it and got upset, so I went to her house and acted inappropriately.

My wife and I also went to the family to apologize to the uncle and aunt, and I also felt a lot of pressure when the clip spread online," Mr. Tuyen said.

After the incident, the Board of Directors of Vinh Loc High School held an urgent meeting and asked teacher Vu Xuan Tuyen to report the incident. Currently, Vinh Loc High School is continuing to review the incident to handle the teacher if there is any violation.
