In order to promote the development of local traditional products, the Department of Science and Technology of Lao Cai province in coordination with the People's Committee of Bac Ha district organized a conference to announce the certification marks "Com Bac Ha" and "Bac Ha Black Chung Cake" for households eligible to use the marks.
Black Chung Cake is a long-standing traditional specialty in the ethnic minority areas of Bac Ha district. It is prepared by the people based on traditional methods, using locally produced ingredients, including charcoal powder from the Núc nác tree to create a unique color. With the characteristic flavor, the fat of pork belly, the aroma of sticky rice, wild cardamom, Bac Ha black Chung Cake is very popular with tourists when coming to this land.
Com Bac Ha is a unique product, imbued with the distinct cultural nuances of the ethnic minorities in Bac Ha. The way the people here make Com is also very different, thanks to their own secrets passed down through many generations. Each grain of Com is green, fragrant and sticky, very easy to eat without getting bored. Visitors can buy it to store in the refrigerator for long-term use while still ensuring delicious quality.

Decades ago, implementing the policy of Lao Cai province, each locality needs to develop specific products to develop tourism , ethnic minorities in Bac Ha have developed Com and Black Chung Cake products to become local specialties.
By June 2022, the People's Committee of Bac Ha district had directed the implementation of the project to build the certification brands "Bac Ha Black Banh Chung" and "Bac Ha Green Rice", meeting the aspirations of local people to develop the specialty commodity economy.
After many rounds of research and surveys with many contents such as: Collecting documents and conducting surveys, collecting samples; building criteria for registering certification trademarks; determining the organization certifying the recognition trademarks of "Bac Ha Black Banh Chung" and "Bac Ha Green Rice"; designing the certification trademark model and the system of means of promoting the products; building and promulgating the Regulations on management and use of certification trademarks, building a dossier for registering product certification trademarks.

After 2 years of project implementation and review, the Vietnam Intellectual Property Office has granted the Certificate of Right to Use the Certification Trademark "Bac Ha Black Banh Chung" to 20 qualified individuals and households.
At the same time, the Certificate of Right to Use the Certification Trademark “Com Bac Ha” was granted to 25 qualified individuals and households. The validity period of the right to use the Certification Trademark “Com Bac Ha” is specified in the Certificate. Individuals and households are responsible for complying with relevant regulations and contributing funds for using the certification trademark (if any) as prescribed.
The certified trademarks “Com Bac Ha” and “Bac Ha Black Chung Cake” not only affirm the quality and brand of the products, but also contribute positively to the economic development of local ethnic minorities.
