Vicem Ha Tien will increase selling price by 50,000 VND/ton from March 31, 2025. |
Many cement brands in the Southern region simultaneously announced an increase in selling prices by VND50,000/ton from March 31, due to pressure from rising production costs.
This was a predictable and not unexpected move. The price adjustment is reasonable in the context of sharp increases in electricity and input material prices.
Vicem Ha Tien Cement also adjusted the price up by VND50,000/ton at all delivery points, applied from March 31 for 50kg bag cement and from April 2 for bulk/jumbo cement.
Long Son Cement in Long An adjusted prices from 6:00 a.m. on April 1 with an increase of VND 50,000/ton for all brands of bagged cement.
Vicem Ha Long Cement also applied a similar increase from April 1 at Hiep Phuoc factory. Meanwhile, Saigon Cement also announced a price increase of VND50,000/ton for all bagged cement and industrial cement products from April 1.
The main reason for the increase in cement prices is the recent increase in electricity prices along with the increase in raw material prices for cement production, causing input costs to increase. Even though production has been optimized, businesses still cannot cover this cost.
According to the explanation of Vicem Ha Tien Cement Joint Stock Company: "Cement production costs have continuously increased in recent years, especially at the end of last year, electricity prices increased by an average of over 4.8%, at the same time, the prices of raw materials for input in cement production are at a high level and show no signs of cooling down. In that context, businesses must increase selling prices to partially offset costs."
Thus, this is the second price increase since the beginning of 2025 by many cement manufacturers. Earlier this year, a series of brands such as Vicem Bim Son, Vicem Hoang Mai, The Vissai, Tan Thang... announced a price increase of 50,000 VND/ton.
Previously, the Ministry of Industry and Trade adjusted the average retail electricity price to increase by 4.8% from October 11, 2024. The increase in electricity prices - one of the important input costs of manufacturing industries, especially those consuming a lot of electricity such as cement - has been significantly affected, and the immediate increase in product selling prices has been taken into account by many cement enterprises.
