Opening ceremony of Course 01 in 2025 for 40 Vietnamese students participating in the Program of sending and receiving Vietnamese workers to Germany to work as Nursing Assistants
According to statistics from the Department of Overseas Labor Management ( Ministry of Home Affairs ), in August 2025 alone, the whole country had over 12,180 Vietnamese workers working abroad under contracts, including over 3,850 female workers.
Japan and Taiwan (China) continue to be the two key markets, receiving over 4,340 and over 5,430 workers respectively, accounting for nearly 80% of the total number of workers in the month. South Korea maintained stability with over 1,580 workers , while some other markets also recorded positive signals: China received 264 workers, Singapore 149 workers and Romania 30 workers.
In the first 8 months of 2025, the total number of Vietnamese workers working abroad reached over 97,960 people (including nearly 32,850 female workers), completing 75.3% of the yearly plan (130,000 workers). Japan still leads with over 43,900 workers, followed by Taiwan (China) with over 37,900 workers and South Korea with over 8,920 workers.
Other markets also maintained stable reception levels: China has about 2,000 Vietnamese workers working, Singapore nearly 1,500 workers. Notably, some European countries have begun to show signs of improvement: Romania received 458 workers, Hungary over 580 workers.
This result shows the stable and sustainable role of traditional markets – which have a large demand for labor, stable policies and are suitable for the capacity of Vietnamese workers.
Notably, the European market is opening up new opportunities. Some countries such as Romania and Hungary have accepted Vietnamese workers, but the number is still modest. This requires stronger solutions in exploiting and developing new markets , especially improving the quality of human resources in foreign languages and skills to meet the strict standards of developed countries.
According to the Department of Overseas Labor Management, the results achieved in the past 8 months are thanks to the close attention and direction of the Party and Government ; the close coordination between the Ministry of Home Affairs, ministries, branches and localities; and the efforts of service enterprises and workers.
In particular, the Department of Overseas Labor Management has proactively coordinated with relevant agencies to maintain stability in traditional markets, while gradually promoting the expansion of new markets, including the European region - a place assessed to have great potential.
In the final months of the year, the Department of Overseas Labor Management will continue to synchronously deploy solutions, striving to complete and exceed the 2025 target .
The important goal is not only to stop at the number of 130,000 workers but also to improve the quality of human resources, protect the legitimate rights of workers, and affirm the reputation and brand of Vietnamese labor in the international arena.
