Regarding the incident of broken blades of wind turbine tower No. 8, belonging to the Hoa Binh 5 Wind Power Plant Project (Vinh Moi Hamlet, Vinh Thinh Commune, Hoa Binh District), on March 4, Mr. Pham Van Thieu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Lieu Province, said that according to statistics from the investor, Hacom Holdings Energy Joint Stock Company, the property damage was estimated at about 200 billion VND. Fortunately, the accident did not cause any human injuries.

Mr. Ho Van Linh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Binh District, said that after the incident, the investor temporarily stopped the operation of the pillars to ensure safety. The factory is expected to resume operations today (March 4). The damaged pillars are waiting for foreign experts to urgently determine the cause.

Mr. Linh added that in the long term, investors also need to periodically check to ensure technical and operational factors, avoiding similar cases in the future to ensure the safety of assets of businesses and people.

As Thanh Nien reported, at around 5:00 p.m. on March 1, at wind power tower No. 8, belonging to the Hoa Binh 5 Wind Power Plant Project, 3 blades suddenly broke and fell to the ground. The tower was about 140 meters high, the blades were tens of meters long, and the total weight was more than 100 tons, broken in many parts, causing complete damage.

The Hoa Binh 5 Wind Power Plant Project (Phase 1) has a capacity of 80 MW, with a total investment of more than 3,700 billion VND. The project is built on an area of ​​27 hectares, with 26 wind turbines, and was inaugurated and put into operation on April 29, 2022. The average output is 280 million kWh/year. This is the largest wind power plant on land in the Mekong Delta region to date.
