Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh receives Chairman of the Swedish SYRE Group

SYRE Group's leaders believe that Vietnam will be a strong partner of SYRE in the region, moreover, the green transition is taking place strongly in Vietnam - the strategic location that the group has chosen.

On the afternoon of April 23, at the Government Headquarters, receiving Ms. Susanna Campbell, Chairwoman of SYRE Group, Sweden and Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam Johan Ndisi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked SYRE to invest in developing the textile and garment industry in a green and sustainable direction in Vietnam.

Welcoming the SYRE Group's leadership delegation to Vietnam to study investment in green production, with "green people, green environment, green materials, green energy," promoting the circular economy , the Prime Minister suggested that with its experience in textile production, the group should actively use clean electricity, clean input materials, and reduce emissions into the environment during the production process; especially taking advantage of textile-related scrap and surplus textile raw materials in Vietnam for production.

Noting that Vietnam has recently resolved legal issues related to direct electricity trading and self-production and self-consumption for enterprises that produce their own power sources, the Prime Minister stated that the SYRE Group's planned investment in Binh Dinh is a smart choice because Binh Dinh has a very good investment environment; has good infrastructure systems such as airports, deep-water seaports...

The Prime Minister also said that this year, Vietnam is striving for 8% growth, and in the coming years must achieve double-digit growth, based on science, technology, innovation, digital transformation; rapid development but must be green and sustainable, in which the circular economy must be actively promoted.

In this process, Vietnam needs cooperation and support from foreign partners, especially in terms of capital, science, technology, management experience and human resource training.

SYRE Group Chairwoman Susanna Campbell thanked Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for taking the time to meet her; and said that recently, the group has been promoting investment in foreign markets, prioritizing green transformation and sustainable development. In particular, the textile and garment industry must change and reduce emissions to the environment.

Ms. Susanna Campbell hopes to cooperate to make Vietnam the center of the global textile ecosystem.

This production process will be circular, creating products similar to the input of the textile industry, so SYRE hopes that Vietnam will become a global center of the circular economy.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that Vietnam is the country that produces the most renewable energy in Southeast Asia and has a policy to continue developing this clean energy source, in line with SYRE's strategy; along with that, Vietnam is also focusing on developing the circular economy, considering this as one of the new growth drivers, especially related to the textile industry which has a lot of waste.

Affirming that Vietnam supports Europe in setting very strict standards related to environmental protection in the production process and products, contributing to improving the global environment in the spirit of the COP 26 to 28 Conferences, the Prime Minister said that Vietnam is actively implementing green energy, circular economy, green materials for garment; encouraging foreign investors to invest in the high-tech sector; and is ready to support the SYRE Group to invest conveniently and effectively in Vietnam.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam and Sweden have enjoyed a very good friendship over the years; Vietnam is always grateful for Sweden's assistance in the early years of national reconstruction after the war; and wishes to develop a green economy and a circular economy with Sweden, thereby contributing to the development of cooperative relations between the two countries.

Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam Johan Ndisi said Sweden wishes to cooperate with Vietnam in green transformation; Swedish corporations and businesses have a long-term investment strategy in Vietnam; Sweden is making efforts with specific actions to promote the possibility of upgrading the bilateral cooperation relationship to a new level in the future./.

SYRE Group was founded by H&M Garment Group and Vargas Technology Investment Company (Sweden).

SYRE creates a global circular textile ecosystem through large-scale recycling centers, high-tech applications and renewable energy use.

SYRE plans to invest in a polyester fabric recycling complex in Binh Dinh with a total investment capital of about 1 billion USD; aiming to make Vietnam the first global center for circular textiles, applying high technology according to US and European standards, in line with Vietnam's sustainable development orientation and net zero emission target.
