On the morning of July 31, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Head of the State Steering Committee for important national projects and works, key to the transport sector, chaired an online conference to review the work of the Steering Committee in the first 6 months of 2025, and to review the peak emulation period of "500 days and nights of emulation to complete 3,000km of expressway", connecting online with 26 provinces and centrally-run cities.

Focus on synchronous investment in transport infrastructure

The year 2025 is of special importance, a year of acceleration and breakthrough to reach the finish line, to successfully implement the 5-year socio -economic development plan 2021-2025; the whole country is making the greatest efforts, striving to successfully complete the socio-economic development targets in 2025, especially the annual growth rate of 8.3-8.5%.

Therefore, since the beginning of 2025, the Government has directed ministries, branches and localities to focus highly and be determined to complete tasks related to the development of transport infrastructure according to the resolution of the 13th Party Congress.

Of which, 1,000km will be completed to have over 3,000km of expressway by 2025 (by the end of 2024, the whole country will have 2,021km of expressway); basically complete the Long Thanh international airport project; invest in 1,000km of coastal road; T3 terminal of Tan Son Nhat airport...

The Prime Minister has launched a peak emulation campaign "500 days and nights of competition to complete 3,000km of expressway", creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere across construction sites, projects, ministries, branches and localities to successfully and effectively implement the peak emulation campaign, thereby significantly contributing to speeding up the progress of construction projects.

In his opening speech, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that we are promoting three strategic breakthroughs, especially the strategic breakthrough in infrastructure, with the view that infrastructure must be one step ahead, paving the way and must be the foundation, the premise for development, creating new momentum for the country.

According to the Prime Minister, the breakthrough in strategic infrastructure development aims at many goals: promoting growth, creating new development space, reducing input costs for businesses and people, and increasing the competitiveness of products, goods, businesses and the economy.

Focus on removing obstacles to promote projects

Since the beginning of the year, agencies have been very determined to amend and supplement institutions, organize implementation, arrange and adjust capital sources, resolve difficulties and remove obstacles to ensure strategic infrastructure projects are well implemented.

The target is December 31, which means there are only 5 months left to complete, but the workload is still huge, with high demands and expectations from the people. Therefore, it requires all levels and sectors to continue to have high determination, great efforts, and drastic actions.

Make the best use of the results achieved in the first 6 months of the year; continue to effectively implement the emulation movement "500 days and nights of emulation to complete 3,000km of expressway".

The head of the Government emphasized: "The spirit must continue to race against time, only discuss action, not retreat. Only do better, with the highest sense of responsibility, the spirit of the August Revolution, with orders from the heart, resolutely complete the goal of having at least 3,000km of expressway by the end of 2025 as set by the 13th Party Congress."

Up to now, it has been exactly one month since the whole country put into operation the 2-level local government model; although facing many difficulties and challenges, in general, the local government has initially operated stably, smoothly, promptly, without leaving any management gaps and serving the people and businesses better, ensuring political security and social order and safety.

Therefore, in the coming time, localities must continue to make more efforts, try harder, overcome difficulties and obstacles to successfully complete assigned tasks. In particular, localities with projects under the Steering Committee, the commune-level authorities will have to make more efforts.
