On July 8, under the chairmanship of comrade Phan Dinh Trac - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Negative Practices (PCTNTC), the Central Internal Affairs Commission held an online conference to review the first 6 months of the year's activities of the PCTNTC Steering Committees of provinces and cities (Provincial Steering Committees).

In the first 6 months of 2024, the Provincial Steering Committee promptly directed and issued many resolutions, directives, programs, and plans to concretize and effectively organize the implementation of the Party's guidelines, the State's laws and policies on PCTNTC and the direction of the Central Steering Committee.

During the past 6 months, the Provincial Steering Committee has reviewed and put 74 cases and 33 complicated corruption and negative incidents that have been of public concern in the area under monitoring and direction; initiated 456 new cases, with 1,265 defendants committing corruption crimes; directed the handling of 35 cases of heads and deputy heads of agencies and organizations that allowed corruption and negative incidents to occur; initiated 73 cases, with 64 defendants committing corruption and negative incidents that occurred in the non-state sector. |
The Provincial Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption has also strengthened the work of inspection, supervision, investigation and settlement of complaints, denunciations, and recommendations on corruption and negativity, promptly correcting and rectifying many wrongdoings. Through inspection, supervision, and investigation, 63 cases were discovered, with 57 corrupt and negative subjects. Party committees and competent inspection committees have disciplined 949 party organizations and 1,120 party members for violating things that party members are not allowed to do and related to corruption and negativity.
The work of recovering lost and misappropriated assets in corruption, economic and negative cases by civil prosecution and enforcement agencies at all levels has received attention and direction from the Steering Committees, initially achieving clear results. In the first 6 months of the year, local enforcement agencies recovered 500 billion VND/1,306 billion VND of the total assets lost and misappropriated in corruption and negative cases. The provincial Steering Committees have been operating in an increasingly orderly and effective manner, affirming their important role in leading and directing the work of anti-corruption at the local level, thereby actively contributing to Party building, consolidating the trust of cadres, party members and people in the Party's anti-corruption work.

At the conference, delegates were informed of the content of Regulation 132-QD/TW, dated October 27, 2023 of the Politburo on controlling the power of anti-corruption in investigation, prosecution, trial, and execution of judgments and discussed to point out the shortcomings and limitations and propose solutions to continue effectively implementing anti-corruption work in the last 6 months of the year.
In his concluding remarks, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee Phan Dinh Trac requested that in the coming time, the Provincial Steering Committees should continue to advise and direct the effective implementation of the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws on anti-corruption. The focus is on resolutely directing and seriously and effectively implementing the Politburo's Regulations on controlling anti-corruption power in investigation, prosecution, trial and execution activities; the Conclusions of the General Secretary, Head of the Central Steering Committee at the meetings of the Steering Committee and the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee; continue to direct the strengthening of inspection, supervision, investigation, settlement of complaints and denunciations, focusing on areas prone to corruption and negativity, prominent and pressing issues of public concern.
The Provincial Steering Committee focuses on leading and directing the work of detecting corruption and negativity, speeding up the investigation and handling of corruption and negativity cases and incidents in localities, especially cases and incidents under the supervision and direction of the Provincial Steering Committee and assigned by the Central Steering Committee to the Provincial and Municipal Party Committees for handling; further improving the effectiveness of the work of recovering corrupt assets; continuing to innovate content and methods, promoting the role and responsibility, improving the operational efficiency of the Steering Committee, the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee and the Standing Committee of the Provincial Steering Committee, contributing to the comprehensive completion of all aspects of activities in the last 6 months of the year, meeting the increasingly high requirements of the Party's task of fighting against corruption and negativity.
