(Dan Tri) - The city's excellent student exam in cultural subjects for grade 9 from the 2024-2025 school year will follow the 2018 general education program, so the way the exam subjects are named will be different from before.
According to the plan to organize the exam to select excellent students in cultural subjects of grade 9 at secondary school level in the 2024-2025 school year, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training (DET) stipulates the number of exam subjects to be 7.
These subjects include: math, literature, civics, information technology, foreign languages, history and geography, and natural sciences .
In which, foreign language includes 3 languages: English, French, Japanese. History and geography includes history and geography. Natural science includes 3 content streams: energy and change (corresponding to old physics); matter and change of matter (corresponding to old chemistry); living things (corresponding to old biology).
Thus, compared with the excellent student exam according to the 2006 general education program, this year's exam has changes in the number of subjects and subject names.
The three subjects of physics, chemistry, and biology are now three content streams in one exam subject, natural science. However, candidates cannot take all three content streams but can only choose one of the three.
Similarly, history and geography are now two sub-subjects in one exam, history and geography. Candidates can only choose one of the two sub-subjects to take the exam.
Last year, the number of subjects for gifted students was higher because the five subjects of physics, chemistry, biology, history, and geography were independent subjects. In addition, the Department of Education and Training added natural sciences, bringing the total number of subjects to 10.
This year, the Hanoi 9th graders’ exam for selecting excellent students in the city will be an essay test in literature, math, civics, history and geography. Natural sciences and foreign languages will be a combination of essay and objective tests.
In particular, the IT subject is tested in the form of computer programming.
According to regulations, each Department of Education and Training is only allowed to send a maximum of 10 candidates for each team.
In special cases where 80% of the candidates in a team have won prizes in two consecutive city-level competitions, the team will be increased by a maximum of 5 candidates.
Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted is allowed to form its own team without having to go through the district level competition. The number of candidates in a team is equivalent to the number of the Department of Education and Training.
It is expected that the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will organize the 9th grade excellent student exam on January 18, 2025.
