Ho Chi Minh City organizes excellent student competitions in all three regions on September 17 and 18.

(NLDO)- The Ho Chi Minh City education sector will select outstanding students from high schools to form a national excellent student selection team for the 2025-2026 school year.

The Department of Education and Training (DET) of Ho Chi Minh City has just issued a plan to organize an exam for excellent students in the city to participate in the national exam for excellent students in the 2025-2026 school year.

Through the exam, the Department of Education and Training will select outstanding students from high schools to form a team to participate in the national excellent student exam for the 2025-2026 school year.

Exam subjects include: Literature, history, geography, math, physics, chemistry, biology, information technology, English, French, Chinese, Japanese.

Regulations: Each exam has 2 papers and is held in 2 morning sessions. Time for each paper: 180 minutes.

The second test of foreign languages ​​includes a listening test; the computer science test includes programming on a computer using the programming languages ​​C++, Pascal and Python.

According to the City Department of Education and Training, the candidates are students in grades 10, 11, and 12 in the 2025-2026 school year, with good or better academic and training results in the 2024-2025 school year.

Number of registrations:

+ Region 1 (formerly Ho Chi Minh City) and Region 3 (formerly Ba Ria-Vung Tau): Specialized schools and schools with specialized classes must send at least 50% of students from specialized classes to take the exam in the specialized subject they are studying; high schools and general schools with high school level must send a maximum of 5 students to take the exam in each subject.

+ Area 2 (old Binh Duong ): Students were selected through round 1 in February 2025 organized by the Department of Education and Training of Binh Duong province (old).

Principles for selecting the City's excellent student team: The exam is graded on a 20-point scale. Students participating in the exam will be considered for the City's selection team in order of priority from highest to lowest exam score (the exam score is the total score of the 2 exams).

Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training organized a ceremony to honor and reward excellent students of the 2024-2025 school year.

Students selected for the selection team will participate in review and training according to the time frame and instructions of the Department of Education and Training. After completing the training period, students will take the second round of the exam. Based on the results of the second round, the Department of Education and Training will select students from the selection team to join the official team of Ho Chi Minh City.

Students in the official team participating in the national excellent student selection exam in 2025 - 2026 must have good or better academic and training results in the first semester of the 2025 - 2026 school year, fully participate in training and pass the tests during the training process of the candidate team.

Grade 12 students in the official team will be recognized as excellent students at the city level for the 2025-2026 school year (first prize).

- Area 1: Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted (No. 235 Nguyen Van Cu, Cho Quan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) and Marie Curie High School (No. 159 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street, Xuan Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City).

Area 2: Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted (No. 593 Binh Duong Boulevard, Thu Dau Mot Ward, Ho Chi Minh City)

- Area 3: Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (3/2 Street, Phuoc Thang Ward, Ho Chi Minh City).

As expected, the results of the city-level excellent student exam for the 2025-2026 school year will be announced no later than 5:00 p.m. on October 3.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training requires principals of units with students in the selection team to ensure and create necessary conditions for students to fully participate in review and training sessions according to the approved plan.

In case a student is selected but does not participate or does not fully participate in the training process due to having to participate in other school activities, affecting the size and quality of the recruiting team, the principal of the unit is responsible to the Department of Education and Training.
