Actively respond to the Month of Action for the Environment

World Environment Day on June 5, 2025, launched by the United Nations Environment Programme with the theme "Combating Plastic Pollution", aims to call on the community to take drastic action to address plastic waste - one of the most urgent environmental challenges today. This theme clearly demonstrates the global priority in controlling plastic pollution, affirming the commitment to efficient use of resources, enhancing adaptability, promoting innovation and strengthening regional - global cooperation, towards a circular economy and sustainable development.

In Quang Tri province, linking the theme of World Environment Day 2025 with the effective implementation of key central resolutions and the province's action program aims to contribute to promoting the transformation of the quality of plastic pollution control in the province, creating breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation, creating favorable conditions for applying technology in waste management, developing alternative materials for plastic and optimizing the recycling system;

Innovating the work of building and enforcing laws, laying the foundation for a transparent and effective legal framework to control pollution and strictly handle violations... This is also an opportunity to promote social responsibility in production and consumption; creating motivation for businesses to transform to green business models, invest in the recycling industry and promote the development of a circular economy ...

In fact, in recent years, Quang Tri province has made continuous efforts in environmental protection and towards sustainable development. Waste sorting activities at source have been widely implemented, maintaining and increasing the rate of plastic waste collection in households and agencies and units. The movement "Say no to disposable plastic" has spread strongly, contributing to promoting the use of environmentally friendly products in the community.

Many agricultural models combined with green tourism have been gradually formed, mangrove planting programs and coastal waste collection programs have been regularly deployed and attracted a large number of people to participate. However, Quang Tri province is still facing many difficulties and challenges when the situation of indiscriminate waste discharge has not been thoroughly controlled, the environmental protection awareness of a part of the people and businesses is still limited, and waste treatment technology has not met practical requirements.

These are the difficulties and problems that need to be resolved with more determination, synchronous action and creativity from each individual and each organization for a clean living environment now and for future generations.

To implement the 2025 Environmental Action Month, departments, branches, organizations, unions at the provincial level, districts, towns, cities, armed forces units and production and business units in the whole province actively organize response activities. First of all, it is necessary to innovate propaganda and dissemination of policies and laws on environmental protection, in which the content and methods of propaganda must be innovated in a modern direction, applying technology, ensuring consistency, closely linked with the implementation of central resolutions, action programs and plans of the province.

Focus on policy communication to promote law enforcement with the overarching goal of "Raising awareness - Changing behavior - Promoting action towards a green lifestyle and sustainable consumption". Diversify communication forms, harmoniously combining traditional and modern methods (infographics, short videos, social networks, digital platforms) with propaganda content such as the harmful effects of plastic waste, green consumption, circular economic models, shaping a green lifestyle - responsible consumer behavior.

Organize seminars, forums, training courses, and workshops, focusing on policy communication skills, behavior change, and action orientation, combined with recognition and replication of effective models and initiatives. Closely coordinate with partners such as UNEP, UNDP, WB, GIZ, JICA, KOICA... to mobilize technical, financial, and technological resources, support the implementation of inter-regional and inter-national initiatives, and improve modern environmental communication capacity...

In particular, perfecting the mechanism, promoting production and recycling of waste in an environmentally friendly manner. Encouraging businesses to invest in applying modern recycling technology with high efficiency, saving resources, minimizing environmental risks. Prioritizing the application of high technology in agricultural and livestock production to minimize plastic waste from agricultural materials.

Promote the implementation of waste classification at source, synchronously develop technical infrastructure systems and waste collection, classification and recycling services suitable to the characteristics of each locality according to the Project on classifying domestic solid waste at source of Quang Tri province until 2025, with a vision to 2030. Support the construction of environmental protection works for the benefit of the community in building new rural areas, green urban areas, targeting large groups such as women, youth, students...

During the Peak Month of Action for the Environment in 2025, Quang Tri province associated with the campaign "Join hands to reduce plastic waste - Spread green lifestyle" to mobilize the whole society to participate in practical, diverse and widespread activities such as organizing launching ceremonies, rallies and forums on environmental protection, integrating exhibitions of recycled products, circular economic models, green technology solutions. Organizing policy dialogues between people - businesses - management agencies on solutions to reduce plastic pollution.

Simultaneously launch environmental sanitation campaigns, classify household waste at source, collect plastic waste in urban areas, rural areas, residential areas, schools, and agencies. Encourage the organization of "No single-use plastic" days, apply the "No plastic" model in supermarkets, traditional markets, restaurants, agencies, offices, and schools. Increase the use of environmentally friendly products and packaging, support and commend businesses in converting to green packaging and green services.

Encourage farmers, cooperatives and agricultural enterprises to apply biological products, green technology, limit plastic packaging and nylon that is difficult to decompose. Promote the implementation of community models of collecting - recycling - reusing disposable plastic, linked to retail systems, tourism, schools, agencies and localities. Actively connect with plastic waste collection and recycling units operating closely with communities, schools, neighborhoods... Organize simultaneous hanging of billboards, banners, posters on main roads, public places, agencies, schools, commercial centers, residential areas...

Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam affirmed that in the context of increasingly serious climate change, environmental pollution and resource depletion, Quang Tri has determined the goal of implementing specific actions on environmental protection. Gradually overcome difficulties, strengthen resource management, protect the marine and island environment, deploy models of using environmentally friendly products, promote planting of coastal mangrove forests and urban trees to restore degraded ecosystems, effectively respond to desertification, drought and saltwater intrusion.

Focus on organizing practical environmental protection activities such as cleaning, general environmental sanitation, collecting plastic waste in residential areas, building green roads and environmentally friendly residential areas. Increase tree planting activities, restore coastal forests to minimize climate change. In addition, the province also encourages businesses and people to apply green technology, develop circular economic models, use biological materials and improve waste treatment efficiency to mobilize all resources to join hands to protect the environment.
