Continue to open more hydroelectric water discharge gates in the Northwest

After Son La hydroelectric reservoir, from 8:00 p.m. today, August 12, Hoa Binh hydroelectric reservoir also opened a bottom spillway gate.

On August 12, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment issued a telegram directing the Director of Hoa Binh Hydropower Company to open a bottom spillway gate of Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir at 8:00 p.m. the same day.

This directive was carried out according to the inter-reservoir operation process in the Red River basin, given the fact that the upstream water level of Hoa Binh Lake reached 104.05m, the water flow into the lake was 5,270m ³ /second, while the total discharge flow to the downstream was only 2,210m ³ /second.

Previously, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment directed Son La Hydropower Company to open a bottom spillway gate of Son La Hydropower Reservoir (upper level of Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir) from 4:00 p.m. on August 11.

On the same day, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Hoang Hiep signed an official dispatch requesting the People's Committees of the provinces and cities of Phu Tho, Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Hung Yen and Ninh Binh to ensure downstream safety when operating the Hoa Binh hydropower reservoir.
