Explore opportunities in the Muslim market with Halal standards

Báo điện tử VOVBáo điện tử VOV24/08/2024

The total value of global Halal product trade is in the trillions of dollars each year, focusing on key sectors such as food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, fashion , tourism, media and entertainment.

Meanwhile, Vietnam has many favorable conditions to export agricultural and aquatic products with high standards to the global Halal market. The structure of Vietnam's import and export goods is complementary to the markets of Muslim countries; there are conditions to take advantage of opportunities from new generation free trade agreements...

In order to access and exploit this market, in recent times, authorities and many localities across the country have been promoting information and propaganda activities on trade policies, culture, and consumption practices of the Islamic market to businesses; at the same time, supporting trade promotion, accessing, and effectively participating in this potential market.

Therefore, Halal training is a key factor in helping businesses comply with religious and legal regulations, improve product quality, expand markets and enhance reputation. Especially in the context of globalized markets and the strong development of the Muslim community, understanding and implementing Halal standards is more urgent than ever.

Speaking at the “Halal Standards Awareness” training program for businesses held on the morning of August 24 in Hanoi , Mr. Abbas, Chairman of Halal Vietnam, emphasized that Halal certification is not simply a stamp on a product but also a symbol of commitment to quality and respect for consumer needs.

According to Mr. Abbas, the recent increase in demand for Halal products and services worldwide is not only a clear sign of the growth of the Muslim community but also a great opportunity for businesses to expand their market.

“We are living in a challenging but also an opportunity-filled time where compliance with Halal standards is not only a responsibility to respect religious values but also an opportunity to expand markets and develop sustainable businesses,” said Mr. Abbas.

The global Halal market is one of the markets with huge potential in terms of population size and growth, spending levels and sector diversity as well as increasing growth prospects in the future.

Currently, more than 2 billion Muslims live in 112 countries, of which 57 are members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), accounting for 25% of the world's population. In particular, Muslims make up the majority in Asia (62%), especially in the ASEAN bloc, with Indonesia having a large proportion of its Muslim population.
