Delegates attending the Halal Standards Workshop - Muslim-friendly service.
According to Nguyen Vu Khac Huy, Permanent Vice Chairman of the An Giang Province Tourism Association, Vietnam is seeing an increase in Muslim tourists, but compared to other destinations in the region, the number is still modest. The reason is the lack of facilities and Halal standards to serve Muslim tourists (food, accommodation, prayer rooms, restrooms, etc.).
Through the workshop, local businesses and travel agencies will understand the friendly standards of serving Muslims. From there, they will train human resources, grant Halal standards, etc., contributing to the growth of Muslim tourists to An Giang province in general and Phu Quoc in particular.

Nguyen Trung Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism of An Giang province, said that after the merger, An Giang province has great potential for tourism. However, the province has little participation in the supply chain, serving Muslim tourists. Meanwhile, in the region, countries such as Singapore and Thailand have risen to become the leading countries in welcoming Muslim tourists.
At the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh suggested that the Provincial Tourism Association and the Provincial Chefs Association need to propagate and mobilize members and businesses to proactively and actively learn and approach regulations on Halal certification; learn how to approach the global Halal market, technical standards, especially national standards in the Halal field.
At the same time, proactively request relevant agencies and units related to Halal standards to guide and support when there are difficulties or problems in the process of learning or approaching the Halal market in a well-prepared, complete, and proper manner..., in order to best serve Muslim tourists, which are showing a very good growth trend in the coming time.
