To meet the increasing coal demand of the market, in 2024, Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (TKV) aims to produce more than 38.7 million tons of raw coal and consume 50 million tons of coal (an increase of 3.5 million tons compared to 2023). Closely following this target, TKV is currently accelerating processing, ensuring the structure of coal types to meet consumption needs, thereby creating momentum to successfully complete the production and business plan for the whole year.
As the unit responsible for the main coal consumption of the Group, in 2024, Cam Pha Port and Logistics Company strives to achieve the coal consumption output of over 65 million tons (of which 42 million tons are supplied to thermal power plants). To complete the production and business plan and tasks to meet the demand for sufficient coal supply to the market, from the beginning of 2024 until now, Cam Pha Port and Logistics Company has promoted the emulation movement of labor production, striving to complete the production and business plan targets.
The Coal Power Workshop is the unit with the main task of preparing coal supply for Mong Duong 1 and Mong Duong 2 Thermal Power Plants, in addition to consuming coal for customers through Khe Day port. Implementing the Company's direction on boosting production, ensuring sufficient coal supply for thermal power plants during peak months, the workshop has focused on production with the goal of achieving the highest output; closely coordinating with coal production units and the Inspection Joint Stock Company to receive coal from mines, from Coal Selection Workshop 4, Cua Ong Coal Selection Company, preparing enough coal supply for Mong Duong Thermal Power Center.
According to Mr. Nguyen Gia Mon, Manager of the Power Coal Workshop, Cam Pha Port and Logistics Company: In the 2024 plan, the workshop will receive more than 7.4 million tons of coal, and consume 7.22 million tons of coal. In the first 7 months of the year, the workshop has completed nearly 4.9 million tons of imported coal, reaching 58.7% of the yearly plan; consumed coal reached 4.7 million tons, reaching 65% of the yearly plan. In the third quarter, when the demand for coal for electricity decreased, the unit focused on preparing sources, preparing warehouses, consolidating equipment and means, preventing storms and floods, and preparing the best conditions for peak production in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Together with the Coal Power Plant, the Company's workshops took advantage of favorable weather conditions to mobilize maximum human resources, machinery and equipment to serve the production, transportation and consumption of coal for customers according to the Group's operating plan. In the first 7 months of 2024, the Company managed to consume more than 39.6 million tons of coal, reaching 61% of the yearly plan.
At Da Bac Logistics Company - the main coal consumer for mines in the Uong Bi - Dong Trieu area, in 2024, TKV assigned the Company to consume nearly 11.7 million tons of coal. To complete this goal, since the beginning of the year, the Company has focused on hauling coal, preparing coal types well, and organizing delivery to customers according to the Group's operating plan. In the first 7 months of the year, the Company has operated coal purchased from mines reaching more than 7.1 million tons, reaching 61% of the yearly plan; coal consumed nearly 6.8 million tons, reaching 58% of the yearly plan.
Mr. Nguyen Hoai Giang, Deputy Director of Da Bac Logistics Company, said: Following closely the production targets of the mines in the Western region, the Company proactively developed a plan to coordinate with companies to pull coal from the mines to the warehouse to serve the processing and mixing of coal to supply the market. The Company's workshop level, since the beginning of the year, has also proactively developed a plan to manage coal in and out of the warehouse every day, month, and quarter; at the same time, closely coordinated with each other from the coal delivery to appropriate loading and unloading.
From now until the end of 2024, the Company will continue to closely follow TKV's monthly, quarterly and annual operating plans to arrange production reasonably, focus on warehouse planning, increase coal transportation for production units in the region and deliver coal to households according to plan. Currently, the Company is well prepared to receive imported coal according to the Group's direction and organize processing, blending and delivering coal to power households according to the plan approved by the Group.
In 7 months, the Group exploited 23.08 million tons, reaching 60% of the yearly plan. Coal consumption was 29.1 million tons, reaching 58.2% of the plan, of which 23.08 million tons were supplied to thermal power plants, reaching 55% of the plan. In August 2024, TKV strives to produce 3.16 million tons of raw coal, and consume more than 4.2 million tons of coal...
From now until the end of 2024, the Group will propose solutions to continue to promote the search for markets for high-quality coal products, with specific market plans to increase revenue and profit, and reduce inventories of high-quality lump coal and fine coal.
Currently, the units are proactively following the Group's production and consumption management instructions and market demand, balancing production and consumption appropriately. Strengthening the coal processing and blending work; directing the units assigned with the coal blending plan to strictly implement the blending plan approved by TKV. At the same time, strengthening the tasks and responsibilities of the units to focus on production, import, processing, consumption, promoting the production of raw coal and clean coal from non-coal products.
