According to the special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, within the framework of the State visit to the Republic of Korea, at noon on August 13, in Busan city, General Secretary To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation attended the launching ceremony of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan and the ceremony to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of friendly and cooperative relations between Ho Chi Minh City and Busan city (RoK).
Attending the ceremony were Politburo members: Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission; General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense; General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security; Nguyen Van Nen, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee ; comrades: Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office; Bui Thanh Son, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Le Minh Hoan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; former Politburo members, Party Central Committee members, alternate members of the Party Central Committee, leaders and representatives of ministries, branches and localities of Vietnam; representatives of Vietnamese diplomatic agencies in Korea and leaders of Busan city, representatives of the Korean Government.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Consul General in Busan Doan Phuong Lan said that the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan is not only a new diplomatic agency, but also an open door, the starting point of new journeys.
Busan City has a large number of Vietnamese people living and studying, the Vietnamese community here is increasingly integrating with the locality, attaching itself to the development of the city. Therefore, the establishment of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan demonstrates the deep concern of the Party and State of Vietnam for the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in the southern region of Korea.
Vietnamese Consul General in Busan Doan Phuong Lan affirmed that the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan is committed to being a common home for the people, a place where every Vietnamese person can find support, share and connect; a reliable bridge for businesses of the two countries to find partners, share opportunities and develop together; a companion to preserve and spread Vietnamese culture, Vietnamese language, Vietnamese soul, so that the affection and understanding between the two peoples will become increasingly strong.

Vietnamese Consul General in Busan Doan Phuong Lan pledged to do her best to make the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan a truly effective bridge, contributing to bringing the Vietnam-Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to a new height, for the common interests and prosperity of the two peoples.
Mayor of Busan Park Hyeong Jun said that in the context of the strong development of the Vietnam-Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the establishment of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan city has great significance, a vivid demonstration of the increasingly deep connection between the two countries; a solid bridge to further expand local relations in many fields such as economy, culture, and people-to-people exchange.
Busan Mayor Park Hyeong Jun believes that the opening of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan will certainly contribute to creating new momentum and expanding the space for friendly cooperation between the two cities.
On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son presented Mr. Park Soo Kwan, former Honorary Consul General of Vietnam in the Busan region, with the Medal for Diplomacy.

The event was co-organized by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Busan City Government.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Busan City Council Ahn Seong Min shared that exactly 30 years ago, the friendly and cooperative relationship between Ho Chi Minh City - a major economic and cultural center of Vietnam - and Busan City - an important gateway to the Southeast of Korea - was officially established. It was not only an important diplomatic event, but also a milestone in opening a journey of exchange, connection and sustainable development between the two most dynamic cities of the two countries.

Representing the leaders and people of Ho Chi Minh City, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen shared that the Vietnam-Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has become a model for cooperation and development. The State visit of General Secretary To Lam and his wife to Korea this time is an important milestone for the strong relationship between the two nations.
Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen said that Ho Chi Minh City has entered a new stage of development, with new space, new potential, new conditions, and many new opportunities and challenges, being the locomotive to promote high-quality economic growth, mobilizing investment resources for development, optimizing the development of high-tech industries, and at the same time testing models of innovation, creativity, and startups, contributing to increasing national competitiveness.
Ho Chi Minh City is focusing on creating and building a regional and international economic, financial, service, trade, logistics, high-tech industry and sea tourism center.
Meanwhile, Busan city - the leading port city of Korea and Northeast Asia, is not only famous as a center of logistics, shipbuilding and modern maritime industry, but also a city of knowledge, innovation, creativity and culture.
Busan City has developed strongly in the fields of high technology, healthcare, education, cultural industry, especially smart urban development associated with digital transformation, sustainable development and environmental friendliness.
This opens up many great opportunities for cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Busan City, in areas where both sides have potential and strengths, such as digital transformation, innovation, education and training, tourism, high-tech industry, logistics, marine economy and people-to-people exchange. The two cities will realize the contents of the agreement between the two countries' leaders in the most practical and effective way.
Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that this is the result of more than 30 years of cooperation between Vietnam and Korea, which has been upgraded within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The 30th anniversary of the establishment of friendly and cooperative relations between Ho Chi Minh City and Busan City today is a vivid demonstration of the depth of the relationship between the two countries and affirms the indispensable role of local cooperation in the overall substantive cooperation between the two countries.
Over the years, Korea has made very positive contributions to the development of Vietnam. The presence of the delegation in Busan today is a concrete step to immediately implement the contents agreed between the two countries in the coming time.

The General Secretary stressed that Busan city has an important position in the bilateral cooperation relationship; congratulated Busan on its achievements and results in recent times. Vietnam's opening of the Consulate General here demonstrates its respect for Busan's position in relations with Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City and other localities of Vietnam.
According to the General Secretary, Busan city has a lot of potential to continue developing relations with Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh City is a large urban area of Vietnam, with full potential scale and a modern development vision. Busan and Ho Chi Minh City are both major economic centers, leading innovation centers of Vietnam and Korea, the two sides have many conditions to continue cooperation for mutual development.
The General Secretary hopes that in the coming time, Busan city will continue to expand its cooperative relations with many other localities and cities in Vietnam. Coastal provinces of Vietnam also have many opportunities to expand cooperation with Busan city.
