From July 14-16, the working delegation of the General Administration of Customs of China led by Mr. Li Ming dong - Head of Animal - Plant Quarantine & Food Safety Department (Nanning Customs) and Ms. Wang Ying - Expert of the Technical Center for Inspection and Quarantine (Kunming Customs) visited a number of large-scale durian growing areas and packaging facilities in Lam Dong province. Through inspection and evaluation, the working delegation of the General Administration of Customs of China highly appreciated the preparation work as well as the implementation of regulations of durian growing areas and packaging facilities of Lam Dong province for the importing country.
Currently, the durian area of Lam Dong province is about 42,000 hectares (accounting for 28% of the country's durian area) and is currently in harvest season. The whole province currently has 334 durian export growing area codes with 12,966.7 hectares and 57 durian packing facility codes. At this time, Lam Dong durian is in season.

To ensure the quality of durian for export, the Department of Agriculture and Lam Dong is closely monitoring growing areas and controlling product quality. Since April 16, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection has monitored 76 growing areas. The monitoring content is in accordance with the requirements of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection as well as the regulations of the importing country (mainly from China). The focus is on checking cultivation diaries to monitor the use of pesticides, fertilizers, and plant quarantine objects. The results show that the growing areas have met the requirements of the importing country and are eligible to maintain the durian export code to the Chinese market. Currently, the Department is continuing to monitor 38 growing areas that have been granted codes and 10 packaging facilities.

To control product quality, from the beginning of June 2025 until now, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection has collected 234 durian fruit samples in growing areas to analyze pesticide residues, heavy metals Cadmium and lead, and identify harmful organisms. In the coming time, 108 more durian fruit samples will be collected to send for analysis and identification.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment recommends that farmers need to comply with safe durian cultivation processes and harvest to ensure export standards. People should accompany businesses and not break the links with businesses for personal gain to create stability, sustainability, and longevity in the value chain.
Growing areas need to strictly follow the production process, monitor, supervise and handle pests and diseases according to the correct process. Regularly and proactively analyze to strictly control pesticide residues, heavy metals Cadmium and lead... to meet the requirements of importing countries. Packing facilities need to develop and strictly implement one-way packaging processes, traceability, invest in equipment to implement technical measures to meet the regulations of importing countries, and not use Yellow O in the preliminary processing and preservation of durian products.
