Ho Chi Minh City adds 1 national intangible cultural heritage and 7 historical - cultural relics

On the morning of March 30 in Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to announce the decision of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism to include the art of lion, unicorn and dragon of the Chinese people in Ho Chi Minh City in the list of national intangible cultural heritage, and at the same time announced the decision of the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to recognize and rank 7 historical and cultural relics.

The art of lion, unicorn, dragon (photo) is a typical performing art form of the Chinese in Ho Chi Minh City with 3 mascots: lion, unicorn, dragon all have mythical meaning, representing the wish for prosperity, luck, warding off bad luck, often performed in festivals, Lunar New Year, Mid-Autumn Festival, opening day, groundbreaking..., expressing spiritual value, art, educational value, preserving and transmitting traditional culture.

In addition to 1 new national intangible cultural heritage, Ho Chi Minh City also has 7 more works and locations recognized as historical - cultural relics by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee this time, including: Tan Dinh market, Mariamman temple, Trung Vuong High School (District 1), An Khanh communal house, Long Binh communal house, Long Hoa communal house (Thu Duc City) and Saigon University (District 5), bringing the number of historical - cultural relics of the city to 200 works and locations, including: 2 special national relics (historical relics), 58 national relics (including 2 archaeological relics, 32 architectural and artistic relics, 24 historical relics), 140 city-level relics (86 architectural and artistic relics, 54 historical relics); and 79 historical relics related to the process of fighting for national liberation and national reunification.

On this occasion, Portcoast Consulting Joint Stock Company (Portcoast) donated all digital products of the City Theater to the Ho Chi Minh City Art Center. The event not only affirmed the role of the theater as an important cultural center but also demonstrated the connection between the preservation of tangible and intangible heritage, contributing to the preservation and promotion of Vietnamese cultural identity.
