Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City was assigned to coordinate with the Department of Finance to review all facilities and teaching equipment at public schools, classify the level of damage to advise the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City on a comprehensive treatment plan. The plan includes urgent repairs, investment in upgrading and new construction in areas with rapid population growth, to avoid overload.
The People's Committees of wards and communes shall proactively arrange or advance funds from the local budget to immediately repair serious damage and promptly fix schools at risk of being unsafe. The Department of Finance shall coordinate with the Department of Education and Training to advise on the plan for allocating funds, arranging capital to repair, upgrade and build new school facilities in the period 2025 - 2030. The Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee shall be responsible for monitoring, urging and reporting on the progress of implementation.
Particularly for Vinh Tan Primary School, where the public and students have to study in overloaded conditions, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has urgently directed the transfer of 170 new desks and chairs from other schools before September 23, in order to promptly meet the learning needs. In addition to this temporary solution, the project to build a new school with a scale of 40 classrooms, with an investment capital of about 110 billion VND, has been included in the public investment portfolio for the period 2026 - 2030.
Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc requested heads of departments, branches, and Chairmen of People's Committees of wards and communes to seriously implement the direction, consider ensuring school facilities as a priority task, and create the best learning environment for students in the city.
