Quang Nam children dialogue with provincial leaders

On July 28, the 2023 Quang Nam Provincial Children's Forum with the theme "Children participate in building a safe, friendly and healthy living environment for children" took place. The event had the participation of 114 children representing more than 360,000 children in the whole province.

Speaking at the opening of the Forum, Vice Chairman of Quang Nam People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan said that over the past time, the Party Committees and authorities at all levels of the province have always paid attention to leadership and direction in the work of protecting, caring for and educating children, considering this as one of the goals throughout the development process of the province. Thanks to that, this work has achieved encouraging results, creating a safe and healthy living environment for all children.

However, in addition to the achievements, the work of protecting and caring for children today still faces many difficulties and challenges. Child abuse, injuries, accidents, drowning, labor exploitation, and abuse still occur. Therefore, authorities at all levels need to pay more attention and have specific solutions to overcome the above shortcomings.

The 2023 Quang Nam Provincial Children's Forum is an opportunity for provincial leaders, leaders of departments, branches and localities to listen to children's recommendations and, within their authority and responsibility, take specific actions to better implement the work of caring for, educating and protecting children. At the same time, this is also an opportunity for children to exercise their right to participate, their right to access age-appropriate information, and their right to express their opinions to contribute to the development of policies and programs related to children in the province.

At the forum, the children boldly shared and had dialogues with representatives of the leaders of the relevant departments, branches, sectors and units of the province on issues related to children participating in preventing and combating violence, child abuse and electronic cigarettes; children participating in preventing and reducing injuries, drowning and traffic accidents; children responding to issues in cyberspace; children participating in preventing and combating climate change, epidemics and natural disasters. Children participating in preventing and combating child labor in violation of the law. Children participating in preventing and combating child marriage and incestuous marriage...

Many of the children's recommendations raised at the Forum were supported, shared, and answered specifically and accurately by representatives of relevant departments, agencies, and units of the province. This helped children realize the need to equip themselves with legal knowledge, be bolder and more confident in protecting themselves, and have the knowledge and skills to deal with situations that violate the rights and interests of children in the family and society.

Within the framework of the forum, on the morning of July 28, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province also organized a group discussion session. This is an opportunity for children to speak up, express their opinions, raise their views and recommendations on issues that directly affect children in the locality. At the same time, it is also an opportunity for managers and leaders at all levels, sectors and localities to understand the thoughts, aspirations, difficulties and problems of children, thereby finding measures and solutions, proposing programs and plans to promote the implementation of children's rights, creating a healthy environment for children to live, play, study and develop comprehensively.
