Deploying forest fire prevention at relic sites

VHO - Facing the high risk of forest fires due to hot weather and a large number of tourists during the Sen Village Festival season, Nam Dan ( Nghe An ) is implementing forest fire prevention work with close coordination between functional units to protect forests and historical and cultural relics.

During the prolonged period of severe hot weather, the risk of forest fires is present in many localities with large forest areas, especially areas of important historical and cultural significance.

In Nam Dan district (Nghe An), a place known not only for its historical value but also for its large pine forest ecosystem, forest fire prevention and control work is being focused on by local authorities and functional forces.

The tomb of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan in Nam Giang commune is located near the pine forest.

Many forests in Nam Dan are adjacent to or surround famous relics such as Hoang Thi Loan's Tomb, Chung Mountain or Mai King Temple.

During the long hot season, combined with a large number of tourists coming for pilgrimages and sightseeing during the festival season, this area always faces a high risk of forest fires.

Forest protection is not only an environmental task but also closely linked to the work of preserving important cultural heritages of President Ho Chi Minh's homeland.

The Nam Dan District Government has proactively coordinated with the Forest Protection Department, the Monuments Management Board and specialized fire prevention and fighting forces to deploy many practical solutions. From propaganda, inspection and supervision, to investing in equipment and developing detailed combat plans.

At the relic site of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan's tomb, Nam Giang commune, one of the destinations attracting a large number of tourists and people from all over the country, fire prevention and control work is carried out very strictly.

With a total area of ​​over 48 hectares, including over 20 hectares of pine forest, this area is always at high risk of fire. Since the beginning of the dry season, the Management Board of the relic site has organized regular clearing of vegetation and fallen leaves; at the same time, maintaining a continuous patrol team, especially during peak hours.

In particular, the fire prevention system here has been invested synchronously, including 2 high-pressure water pump systems, 12 water hoses placed in strategic positions, and an automatic irrigation system stretching nearly 1 km from the foot to the top of the tomb.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Chi, Head of the Management Board of the Hoang Thi Loan Tomb Relic Site , said: “We consider fire prevention not only a responsibility, but more importantly, it is to preserve the sacred cultural space. Therefore, in addition to the modern equipment system, we also regularly propagate and remind visitors not to use fire or throw cigarette butts in the forest area.”

Not only at the tomb of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan, other relic sites are also stepping up fire prevention work.

In the Chung Mountain area, Kim Lien commune, the place associated with Uncle Ho's childhood, the forest rangers have treated the vegetation on an area of ​​over 70 hectares. At the Mai King Temple relic site, one of the major spiritual sites of the district, nearly 10 km of firebreaks have been upgraded and repaired before the peak hot season.

Notably, the entire Nam Dan district has completed the maintenance and repair of the entire watchtower system; reinforced nearly 40 km of firebreaks; equipped with dozens of fire blowers, lawn mowers and nearly 1,000 fire extinguishers.

Each commune and each relic cluster has a detailed operational map, which clearly identifies high-risk fire areas, access routes, human resource and vehicle assembly points, logistics areas, first aid areas, etc. This helps ensure quick, accurate and effective response when an incident occurs.

The proactive and synchronous participation of local authorities, forestry sector and relevant units has, is and will continue to contribute to improving the effectiveness of forest fire prevention and control work in historical relic areas.

Thereby, not only protecting precious forest areas but also preserving sacred cultural and spiritual values, contributing to sustainable tourism development and traditional education for future generations.
