Trung Nam Group proposed to invest in building Can Gio bridge under BT form

On August 9, Trung Nam Construction Investment Joint Stock Company (Trung Nam Group) sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, proposing to continue participating in the Can Gio Bridge Construction Investment Project.

This project is in the list of priority projects to attract investment in Ho Chi Minh City in the period 2024-2025.

According to Trung Nam Group, previously, the enterprise was assigned to research, prepare a pre-feasibility study report , organize the selection of bridge architectural design options and hand over all documents to the Department of Construction to complete the report to submit to the Ho Chi Minh City Appraisal Council.

The National Assembly issued Law No. 90/2025/QH15 allowing the application of the BT (Build - Transfer) contract form from July 1, 2025, creating favorable conditions for mobilizing private capital for key infrastructure projects, including Can Gio Bridge.

Previously, the Can Gio bridge construction project was proposed under the BOT form, with a total investment of about 10,569 billion VND, to be implemented in the period 2024-2028. However, according to Decision 1125/QD-TTg dated June 11, 2025, Metro line No. 12 (Can Gio) will be implemented in parallel, which will reduce the need to travel by personal vehicles, directly affecting the project's ability to collect fees.

Trung Nam Group realized that the proposed Can Gio Bridge construction project under the BOT form would no longer be suitable because the payback period would last from 30-50 years.

Therefore, Trung Nam Group proposed that the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Finance and the Department of Construction of Ho Chi Minh City continue to participate in implementing the project's pre-feasibility study report in the form of a BT contract, belonging to the group of public-private partnership (PPP) contracts, according to the provisions of Law No. 90/2025/QH15.

Trung Nam Group commits to mobilizing optimal resources to effectively implement the project, ensuring quality and submitting documents as soon as the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approves the project, in order to shorten the progress and contribute to the development of traffic infrastructure, economy and society.
