According to 9to5Mac , the iPhone ban has expanded to more Chinese agencies, including "at least eight provinces." Instead of iPhones or other foreign-branded smartphones, officials are requiring government employees to use phones from Chinese companies.

China has extended its iPhone ban to state employees.

“Many state-owned companies and government agencies in at least eight provinces, including economically well-developed coastal ones, have instructed employees in the past month or two to start using locally branded devices during work hours,” Bloomberg said.

The report described this as a big step up from the previous September iPhone ban, which only affected "some areas" in China, including a handful of agencies in Beijing and Tianjin, requiring employees to leave foreign-branded devices at home.

In September, although Chinese officials denied reports of an iPhone ban in government offices, they expressed concern about "numerous media reports of security incidents involving Apple phones." The US government called the iPhone ban in China an "inappropriate retaliation."

In its latest report, Bloomberg said that there are still many unknown details about the severity of the upcoming iPhone ban, but it will be a big challenge for Apple and other foreign technology companies like Samsung. In the immediate future, immediately after the report was published, Apple's stock price fell 1% compared to the previous trading session.
