Foreign Language School holds entrance exam for 6th grade on June 8

This year, Foreign Language Secondary School will enroll 150 sixth grade students with three exams on June 8.

On April 12, Foreign Language Secondary School announced that this year's 6th grade admission method is similar to last year's.

Students will take a multiple choice test and an essay test. Each test includes Math - Natural Science , Vietnamese - Social Science and English. The first two subjects each have 12 questions, and the test time is 40 minutes. The English subject has 22 questions and lasts 50 minutes. The admission score is the sum of the two test scores, with the English score multiplied by two for each test. The maximum score is 80.

According to the school, the test content is based on the primary education program, mainly the 5th grade program of the Ministry of Education and Training , ensuring 4 levels of cognition: recognition, understanding, low-level application and high-level application. The test scores were announced on June 22.

In case of considering the final quota but there are many candidates with the same score, the school will give priority to the candidate with higher English test score.

The school accepts online applications from now until May 4. Candidates submit their applications directly to the school from April 21. The exam fee is 450,000 VND.

Foreign Language Secondary School was established in April 2019, under the University of Foreign Languages, Hanoi National University. In the first enrollment of grade 6, the school recruited 100 students but received up to 3,000 applications, making the competition ratio up to 1/30, on average, for every 30 students taking the exam, only one student was admitted.

Since 2022, the school has increased its enrollment quota to 150, so the competition rate over the past two years has decreased to about 1/16. However, this is still the highest competition rate for grade 6 among schools that organize entrance exams nationwide.

Last year, the school's 6th grade benchmark was 48/80 points.
