Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online on the morning of April 19, Mr. Vu Minh Quyet - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Vu Thu district - said that he was also very surprised that Hiep Hoa Primary and Secondary School still organized teaching for secondary school students on the Hung Kings' death anniversary holiday (March 10th of the lunar calendar, April 18th of the solar calendar).

According to Mr. Quyet, because it was a holiday, it was not until the afternoon of April 18 that the unit received the information and immediately requested the school to stop all teaching and learning as well as report and explain the incident.

"The school did not report to the department about the change in class schedule. If it is true, organizing classes on a holiday so that this Saturday the teachers can go to the principal's son's wedding is very wrong. We are currently waiting for the school's explanation report to have a basis to report to the district People's Committee leaders for specific handling" - Mr. Quyet said.

According to Mr. Quyet, the unit has directed that on April 20 (Saturday), the school must still ensure teaching and learning activities are organized according to the timetable.

Speaking further with Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Nguyen Thang Thien - principal of Hiep Hoa Primary and Secondary School - admitted that the school organized classes on the Hung Kings' death anniversary holiday for secondary school students.

According to Mr. Thien, the teachers and vice principal have agreed to teach to "make up" for the students' knowledge because they are about to take exams, especially grade 9, which will have a test on Saturday.

Mr. Thien also denied that he had to teach make-up classes on the recent holiday so that the teachers could attend the wedding his family held for his daughter on April 20.

"It's true that my family held a wedding for my daughter on April 20, but I don't know about the teachers teaching make-up classes so that students can have the day off tomorrow because the teachers didn't tell me about it," said Mr. Thien.

According to Mr. Thien, his own negligence was that the school organized classes during the holiday but did not report it to the Department of Education and Training. The reason was that the principal himself did not know about this because he was busy preparing for his daughter's wedding, so on April 18, Mr. Thien did not go to school.

"Tomorrow, April 20, the school will still organize teaching and learning as usual" - Mr. Thien added.

Previously, some parents of students whose children are studying in the middle school section of Hiep Hoa Primary and Middle School were upset that their children still had to go to school on the Hung Kings' death anniversary holiday (March 10th of the lunar calendar) with the reason being that the school arranged make-up classes so that on Saturday (April 20th) the students would have a day off so that teachers could attend the principal's daughter's wedding.
