On October 2, Mr. Dao Duc Tuan, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Binh Dinh Province, said that after receiving public feedback, the Department requested Nguyen Huu Quang High School and Phu Cat High School No. 3 (Phu Cat District) to correct and stop the practice of mobilizing and collecting money against the principle of voluntariness.
At the same time, the Department issued an official dispatch on implementing collection in educational institutions (to prevent overcharging in the 2024-2025 school year).
Previously, according to the reflection of some parents, the parent committee of Phu Cat High School No. 3 mobilized to collect money to buy televisions for teaching; the parent committee of Nguyen Huu Quang High School mobilized to collect money to build a student parking lot.
Immediately after that, Phu Cat High School No. 3 returned the TVs to the Parents' Association of Grade 10 students; Nguyen Huu Quang High School asked the Parents' Association to stop fundraising and refund those who had contributed to the construction of the student parking lot.
Speaking with VietNamNet , Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Principal of Phu Cat High School No. 3 (Binh Dinh) said that after receiving feedback, the school had completed returning 5 TVs to the parents' committee.
Mr. Phuong shared that this campaign was not carried out by the school but by the parents' committee. The school did not implement it, did not call for it, and had thoroughly understood it from the beginning. However, many parents of 10th graders wanted their children to have better learning conditions, so they campaigned.
"Considering that the parents' movement did not ensure the principle of voluntariness, causing negative impacts on the school and the education sector, the school returned it immediately," said Mr. Phuong.
