When artists become soldiers

Airing on VTV3 every Sunday evening since the end of July, the program “Brave Soldier” has “caused a fever” on television and social networks. This is the first action role-playing reality TV show about the People's Public Security force, “Brave Soldier” has the participation of many famous artists such as Tien Luat, Thanh Trung, Kieu Minh Tuan, Ngo Kien Huy, Phan Manh Quynh, MONO, rapper Binz... With the direction of the Ministry of Public Security , the Department of Political Work and the coordination from many local police units, the crew has exploited “exclusive resources” such as modern equipment systems - rescue robots, armored vehicles, specialized weapons...

Director Mai Tham affirmed: “This is a program 100% created by Vietnamese people. Based on real events, situations and stories in the history of the police force, the creative team transformed them into simulated drills and combat situations for artists to experience and get into character.”

In the program, the artists enter a real training environment. They join the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police, Mobile Police, facing unexpected situations such as fire fighting, rescue, and arresting criminals... That makes every action and emotion real and vivid. Besides the thrilling and breathtaking moments, the artists also bring many humorous and light-hearted stories. Therefore, each episode of "Brave Soldier" attracts 2-3 million views on YouTube, is at the top of discussions on SocialTrend and views on VTV3.

If “Brave Soldiers” brings a new color to the People's Public Security force, “Celebrities Join the Army 2025” continues to extend the journey of exploring military life. With the theme “When the Fatherland Calls”, this season’s “Celebrities Join the Army” brings together 30 artists, such as Chi Pu, Hoa Minzy, Dieu Nhi, Huynh Anh, Binh An, Linh Ngoc Dam, Tim, Huong Giang, Minh Tu, Thanh Duy combined with “new recruits” Ninh Duong Lan Ngoc, PewPew, Ly Ly… creating a diverse and interesting training season.

The audience is familiar with the strict image of the army, but “Celebrities Join the Army” turns this contrast into a highlight. When the artists enter the disciplined environment, they show their bewilderment, sometimes humorously. The tense moments of daily life and training mixed with gentle laughter, tears and sharing make the program create a strong viral effect.

General Director of “Sao Nhap Ngu” Luong Hai Khoa said that “Sao Nhap Ngu 2025” will air in August, right at the time when the whole country celebrates the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, so the crew is determined to bring the audience a new experience with a large investment in training grounds, equipment and challenges. In addition, the concert “Sao Nhap Ngu” taking place at the end of August also created an emotional highlight with more than 20 thousand spectators attending, connecting the on-screen experience with the live music stage.

In addition to the two "hot" programs, audiences are also familiar with "We are soldiers", "Action beauties", "Military geniuses"... which contribute to bringing the image of soldiers closer to the public.

Nurturing patriotism and civic consciousness

Artists experience the reality TV show "Brave Soldier".

Unlike feature films or reports, reality TV creates attraction thanks to its authenticity and surprise. Participants must “tell the story” themselves through actions and emotions in each situation. When artists who are used to the spotlight have to step into the military or police environment, their initial awkwardness becomes attractive material, both entertaining and arousing curiosity.

Watching both programs, young Tran Hai Dang (23 years old, in Phu Thuong, Hanoi) expressed: “Through the broadcast episodes, I saw more clearly the hardships, sacrifices and daily perseverance of the soldiers. That made me understand and appreciate more the value of peace I enjoy. The program participants also inspired me to want to challenge myself in a disciplined environment, train my will, to contribute to the Fatherland.”

General Director Mai Tham of “Brave Soldier” said that the program is not staged, the participating artists do not know the script in advance, and must directly face unexpected situations, creating their own emotions and appeal. In addition, the artistic elements of the participating artists are utilized to bring closeness, youthfulness, and reach a wide audience.

General director of “Sao nhap ngu” Luong Hai Khoa - who has been with the show for nearly 10 years and 15 seasons, expressed his joy that there are more reality TV shows honoring the armed forces being broadcast, thereby helping the public better understand their contributions, while also increasing the pride, responsibility, and love for the Fatherland of each person.

Although widely admired by audiences, the artists said that when participating in reality TV shows about the armed forces, they themselves also idolized the soldiers. Participating in “Brave Soldiers”, actor Le Duong Bao Lam shared: “The soldiers are truly “all-rounders”. They can handle almost any skill in society. They can handle electrical problems like professional workers, carry heavy equipment on their backs and are always ready to fight. I admire them very much”.

Reality TV shows about the armed forces help audiences have a more realistic view of the lives and missions of soldiers who are silently contributing, while at the same time nurturing patriotism, a sense of civic responsibility and the dedication of the young generation to the journey of protecting the Fatherland and maintaining a peaceful life.
