What is special about the bronze statue of Trinh Cong Son about to be inaugurated in Hue?

The inauguration ceremony of the statue and the music performance of Trinh Cong Son took place exactly on the 85th anniversary of the late musician's birth.

The statue is located on the banks of the poetic Perfume River.

According to information from Hue City, the statue of musician Trinh Cong Son is an artistic sculpture by the late sculptor Truong Dinh Que, sponsored and given to Hue City by a businessman in Ho Chi Minh City who loves Trinh's music.

The statue is cast in bronze, 1.7m high, 1.6m wide, 2.3m long.

The late sculptor Truong Dinh Que also sculpted the statue of Trinh Cong Son, which is placed on the altar at the late musician's family home in Ho Chi Minh City.

This bronze statue was designed and installed by architect Ho Viet Vinh and his team in collaboration with Hue City Green Park Center, harmoniously combining with the landscape of Trinh Cong Son Street park.

On this occasion, Hue City People's Committee coordinated with the late musician's family to organize the music program Afternoon in my homeland with 21 performances by singers Duc Tuan, Giang Trang, Tan Son, La Anh Thu, Hue brass band...

A series of familiar songs by the musician will also resound on the banks of the Perfume River on the occasion of his 95th birthday: Cho doi chut an , Dau chan de dia dang , Tren ban dong hoa binh, Xin mat troi tan yen , Vuon xua , Mua hong , Ta thay gi dem nay , Ha trang ...

According to information from the People's Committee of Hue City, this is an activity to recognize the contributions of the late musician Trinh Cong Son to Vietnamese music in general and Hue in particular.

Thereby, contributing to beautifying the general landscape of the ancient capital of Hue and the space of the Perfume River banks - indispensable images in the music of the musician Trinh.

Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Nguyen Trung Truc (husband of singer Trinh Vinh Trinh) - representative of the late musician's family - said this is the 6th Trinh Cong Son statue in the country.

"The statue is beautiful, expressing the true spirit and artistic qualities of Trinh Cong Son," Mr. Truc expressed.

The late musician's family appreciates all the love and affection of Hue City and donors for musician Trinh Cong Son.

Hue is the first locality in the country to name a street after Trinh Cong Son (March 2011), on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the musician's death.

"The statue is placed here, at Trinh Cong Son park, on Trinh Cong Son street in the middle of the poetic and lyrical Huong river, very suitable.

It is more meaningful and emotional that the statue was inaugurated on his birthday," said a family representative.

Trinh Cong Son Street is no longer sad?

Trinh Cong Son Street in Gia Hoi Ward is nearly one kilometer long, more than 10 meters wide, asphalted, starting from the foot of Gia Hoi Bridge along the north bank of the Huong River to Nguyen Binh Khiem Street.

Over the past few years, Trinh Cong Son Street has "lost points" due to the image of sidewalk pubs, chaotic traffic, and loss of urban beauty.

That caused sadness for many Trinh music fans.

Trinh Cong Son Street is part of a large urban renovation project. To implement it, Hue City reclaimed more than 74,000 square meters of land and relocated hundreds of households in the two former wards of Phu Cat and Phu Hiep, now Gia Hoi ward.

Responding to Tuoi Tre Online on the morning of February 26, Mr. Phan Thien Dinh - Secretary of Hue City - said that "the compensation and resettlement work has not been completed yet. Since the end of 2023, Hue City has also renovated a lot. In parallel with the renovation of this area, the city is continuing to complete the relocation of people".

"When completed, the city will have a very large and beautiful Trinh Cong Son space on the banks of the Perfume River," said the Hue City Party Secretary.
