National U21 2025: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, The Cong Viettel and PVF compete for final tickets

(NLDO) - On the evening of July 27, the quarter-finals of the 2025 National U21 Tournament ended dramatically when all four matches had to be decided by a penalty shootout to qualify for the semi-finals.

After 4 rounds of penalty shootouts, U21 Clubs Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, The Cong Viettel and PVF have excellently won the right to enter the semi-finals of this year's tournament. The two semi-final matches will take place at 2:00 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. respectively tomorrow, July 29.

U21 HAGL was eliminated by U21 TP HCM in the quarter-finals, on 11m penalty spot.

Returning to the quarter-final matches that ended last night, in the match under heavy rain, HAGL dominated TP HCM but could not take advantage of the opportunity, having to accept a 0-0 draw. In the penalty shootout, the players of TP HCM showed more courage and won 4-2, securing a ticket to the next round.

Similarly, the match between Da Nang and Hanoi also ended in a draw after 90 minutes. On penalties, Hanoi defeated Da Nang with a score of 5-4.

The match between PVF and SLNA was tense when Hoang Anh opened the score for PVF in the 15th minute. SLNA tried to attack and equalized 1-1 at the end of the match after goalkeeper Quang Truong's mistake. As a result, PVF won 5-3 in the penalty shootout.

In the remaining quarter-final match, The Cong Viettel controlled the game against PVF-CAND, with a young squad including many U19 players but could not score in 90 minutes.

Finally, The Cong Viettel won 5-4 on penalties, completing the list of 4 strongest teams in this year's tournament.
