In the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers, Vietnam U23 beat Bangladesh 2-0, Singapore 1-0 and Yemen 1-0. Vietnam U23 scored a total of 4 goals and did not concede any.
Only U23 Korea in group J and U23 Australia in group D did the same.
Specifically, in group J, U23 Korea defeated Macau 5-0, Laos 7-0, and Indonesia 1-0. Korea finished the qualifying round with a clean sheet and scored 13 goals.
Similarly, in Group D, U23 Australia defeated Northern Mariana Islands 13-0, then beat Timor Leste 6-0, and drew 0-0 with China. U23 Australia scored 19 goals in the qualifying round and did not let their opponents score any.
The achievements of U23 Vietnam show that the defense with Ly Duc, Hieu Minh, Nhat Minh, goalkeeper Trung Kien,... is the mainstay of the team under coach Kim Sang Sik. But it must also be admitted that U23 Yemen, Bangladesh or Singapore are not really that strong.
U23 Vietnam still needs to continue to improve to compete better at the 2025 SEA Games and the 2026 U23 Asian finals.
U23 Vietnam is one of the 7 teams that won all the matches in the qualifying round of the U23 Asian Cup, along with Jordan (Group A), Japan (Group B), Qatar (Group H), Iran (Group I), South Korea (Group J), Syria (Group K).
U23 Vietnam has been present in 6/7 U23 Asian tournaments. Over the past decade, U23 Vietnam has always been present in Asia's highest tournament for U23s.
