The game, which was unveiled at the Dubai Gaming and Esports Festival last week, recognises the prevalence of smartphones and tablets in everyday life, particularly their ability to strengthen parent-child relationships through technology.

According to a study published by Gujarat (India)-based market research firm Bonafide Research, the gaming industry in Dubai is growing significantly, with the potential to reach $17.28 million by 2028.

This game “My Child My Friend” is designed for iOS and Android devices, originally developed as a physical board game. It was later converted into a mobile game with the support of Dubai Police’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) team.

To date, Dubai Police has developed nearly 80 such educational games, of which "My Child My Friend" is the latest.

"My Child My Friend" is available in two modes: Split Screen and Online. Designed similar to the popular Ludo game and featuring a game board with 1 to 30 tiles, players simply roll the dice and move their character along the designated path based on the number shown on the dice.

Throughout the game, players receive various on-screen messages, encouraging thoughts about family and friendship.

Captain Abdulrahman bin Fahad, who oversees virtual applications at Dubai Police, said: “We created this game to bridge the disconnect between children and parents when children spend too much time on phones, tablets and desktops.

We took inspiration from the game Monopoly to create a similar experience for parents, while ensuring the game is appealing to children,” he added.
