Van Thanh suffered an ankle injury. He underwent surgery on the morning of September 7 in Ho Chi Minh City. Currently, the player born in 1996 has been taken to the recovery room and is preparing to enter the rehabilitation phase. According to doctors, the CAHN defender needs about 7 months to return.

With such a long break, Van Thanh will be absent for most of the 2025/26 V-League season and will not be able to participate in the upcoming training sessions of the Vietnamese national team .

Due to injury, Van Thanh was absent from the last two training sessions of the Vietnamese national team. He also had to be a spectator in the recent matches of CAHN in the National Super Cup, V-League and the opening match of the 2025/26 Southeast Asian Club Cup.

Before the injury, Van Thanh played consistently for CAHN Club. In the 2024/25 season, the player from Hai Phong (formerly Hai Duong ) played a total of 18 matches. In order to keep Van Thanh, CAHN signed a contract with him until 2028.
