2 new technologies of VNPT open a new era of connection

Variable shared network becomes "tailor-made" network

Previously, all users shared the same network, the quality depended on the number of users accessing at the same time. This is the reason why the network is often unstable during peak hours, especially when watching 4K movies or playing online games. To solve this problem, VNPT has applied Network Slicing technology on its network.

By applying Network Slicing technology on the 5G SA (5G Standalone) platform, VNPT's physical network infrastructure is divided into many virtual "slices". Each "slice" is designed separately in terms of criteria such as bandwidth, latency and reliability. This means that each customer service will have a separate transmission line that is optimized and "tailored" according to the customer's needs.

Network Slicing technology opens up many practical applications. For example, a smart factory can own its own 5G network according to its needs and requirements to control the production line. Or a seaport can operate thousands of surveillance cameras at the same time with its own designed transmission line.

With public services, applying Network Slicing technology, VNPT's digital infrastructure will build priority transmission lines according to the specific needs of each user such as fire, police, and medical in emergency and rescue situations.

For individual users, these virtual "slices" will help increase accuracy and reduce latency for activities that require high speed and precision such as remote drone control or live TV...

Network API: Accelerating Digital Services

The second technology that VNPT has successfully tested is the Network API. Customers can interact directly with VNPT's network to request real-time connection quality settings for the applications and service platforms that customers are using.

For example, VIP customers of MyTV service who want to watch a top football match or watch a movie can completely "command" the VNPT network to prioritize transmission lines, connection bandwidth and increase data stability, so that they can watch that football match or movie with the desired transmission speed and quality, smoothly, without lag.

In other words, instead of just providing bandwidth, when using Network API, VNPT's infrastructure can ensure to meet the individual needs of each customer in terms of speed and connection bandwidth in the form of flexible service packages.

According to Ms. Rita Mokbel, General Director of Ericsson Vietnam, as 5G opens up new opportunities to diversify service models and optimize revenue, the Vietnamese telecommunications industry is entering a period of strong transformation. Through the application of Network Slicing and Network APIs technology, network operators such as VNPT can develop flexible 5G service packages, suitable for each customer group, each industry and specific needs.
