Gasoline prices fluctuate, oil prices drop sharply

Gasoline prices today, from 3:00 p.m. on December 12. Accordingly, each liter of E5 RON 92 gasoline decreased by 3 VND/liter, RON 95 gasoline increased by 33 VND/liter; oil prices were adjusted down.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance has just adjusted the retail price of gasoline in the adjustment period today (December 12). The effective time is from 3:00 p.m. on December 12, 2024.

Specifically, the price of E5 RON 92 gasoline decreased by VND3/liter, down to VND19,861/liter; RON 95 gasoline alone increased by VND33/liter, up to VND20,596/liter.

Price of diesel 0.05S: Down 127 VND/liter, down to 18,255 VND/liter; kerosene down 251 VND/liter, down to 18,566 VND/liter; fuel oil 180CST 3.5S down 551 VND/kg, down to 15,574 VND/kg.

In this operating period, the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance did not set aside or use the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund for E5RON92 gasoline, RON95 gasoline, diesel oil, kerosene, and fuel oil.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the average price of finished petroleum products in the world between the price adjustment period of December 5, 2024 and the adjustment period of December 12, 2024 is: 80,750 USD/barrel of RON92 gasoline used to blend E5RON92 gasoline (down 0.010 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.01%); 84,114 USD/barrel of RON95 gasoline (up 0.178 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.21%); 86,700 USD/barrel of kerosene (down 1,440 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 1.63%); 86,874 USD/barrel of 0.05S diesel (down 0.726 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.83%); 434,982 USD/ton of 180CST 3.5S fuel oil (down 19,650 USD/ton, equivalent to a decrease of 4.32%).

World oil prices on December 12 (Vietnam time) fluctuated in different directions. At 11:46 am, WTI crude oil was at 70.28 USD/barrel, down slightly by 0.01 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.01%. WTI crude oil closed the previous trading session at 70.29 USD/barrel, opening today's session at 70.36 USD/barrel.

Brent crude oil was at $73.59 a barrel, up $0.07, or 0.10%. Brent crude oil closed the previous trading session at $73.52 a barrel and opened today at $73.64 a barrel.

Thus, the world oil prices at the end of yesterday's trading session (December 11) increased sharply by more than 2%. At today's trading session (December 12), both WTI and Brent crude oil were trading around yesterday's closing price.

According to analysts, gasoline prices have fluctuated strongly recently due to the direct impact of decisions to extend production cuts by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies (OPEC+) until the end of the first quarter of 2025.

In the most recent adjustment period on December 5, the prices of all types of gasoline and oil were jointly adjusted downward by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance.

Specifically, the price of E5 RON 92 gasoline increased by VND24/liter, to VND19,864/liter; RON 95 gasoline decreased by VND294/liter, to VND20,563/liter.

The price of 0.05S diesel oil decreased by 395 VND/liter, down to 18,382 VND/liter. Kerosene oil decreased by 325 VND/liter, down to 18,817 VND/liter. The price of 180CST 3.5S fuel oil remained unchanged at 16,125 VND/kg.
